Yes on petworthy's comment.

Etsy sellers who truly make things by hand/have limited runs are selling on a low profit margin and generally cannot just resend something handmade. In the case of a print, if they can't find a print shop to do the work for the right price, there won't be a print. These are not multinationals with loads of resources at their fingertips, and as a buyer you should understand that before making a purchase.

"Assholes are everywhere" - me.
This from so many experiences getting frustrated at people's ill behavior. It is good to just remind yourself that there are a lot of jerks out there and you can't control them...

My food coop has lots of things in bulk that you wouldn't normally think of - salsa, earth balance, kimchi, frozen peas and corn, etc - and I bring my own containers all the time. This isn't a new idea.
I don't like that they are advertising as zero-waste. I volunteered for years at the coop and know that even if consumers aren't using new containers, the food comes in boxes, bags, etc. Bananas come in boxes lined with plastic wrap. There is no plastic-free existence, even if you pursue it to the point of driving yourself nuts.
That isn't to say we shouldn't do what we can, though. I am currently living away from home temporarily and have to shop mostly at trader joe's, and I am totally disgusted at the amount of packaging I have to throw away on a daily basis!

i did this but instead of putting the long grass in a vase I tied a rubber band around the bundle and it instantly turned into an extremely popular cat toy.

Hm. That is an awful lot of money for a jar, some tea, some sugar, and a culture which can be had for free. This must be diy for people who cannot diy.

Children learn through movement and interaction with real things, not interaction with a screen. It is a shame that Montessori is being used to market cheap entertainment to parents.

I don't eat it, but i have made homemade and boxed for many many children as a caretaker. The boxed takes far less time - you have to bake homemade in the oven for 30 minutes! Or else it tastes like uncooked flour. Some kids cannot wait that long... so I guess planning is important.
Also, if you use organic ingredients, the cost of the homemade at least triples. Organic pasta around here is $2.99 a pound, and don't get me started on organic rennetless cheese...
Of course homemade is more delicious and betterfor you, but for convenience and price, boxed, no contest.

It is a myth that quinoa is "loaded" with protein. In comparison to other grains, quinoa has 2-3 more grams per serving - not exactly a powerhouse of protein. Wheatberries have nearly as much and rice trails not very far behind.
It's not like eating quinoa is the equivalent of a vegan steak.

I have two ameraucanas and a barred rock (had two barred rocks but one passed away unexpectedly). I raised them gently and they are just the friendliest chickens! They run up to me to see what treats I have to offer. One of the ameraucanas in particular loves to sit in my lap!
