I decorate slowly. Glacially slow. It took me nearly 5 years to finish putting my apartment together. Because of how slow I was, I actaully ended up with many beautiful pieces that were just given to me! How lucky is that!! It all come together nicely.

I completely agree with getting the survey done to make sure everyone knows where the property line is. As for the comments about "good fences make good neighbors"... I would like to direct you to Robert Frost's poem Mending Wall. Here is a quick synopsis of it from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mending_Wall

I laughed out loud when I read "it avoids both cliché and trendiness". Although,it does make the bikes pop out nicely.

I purchased custom foam seat cushions from CushionsExpress and am planning on ordering foam for a headboard from them as well. If you go to the link for custom cushions : http://www.cushionsxpress.com/catalog/Custom_Cushions-2-1.html you can enter in your dimensions to figure out price.

Right now, my tv is in a low cabinet in my living room. My living room does triple duty as living room/dining room (tv cabinet closed) family room (tv cabinet open). It works for me.

I love this color combination. My living room is done in reds and greens. I agree with Miami's Elaine about avoiding kellyish greens.

I really love the look of retro fridges and stoves. I am slowly acquiring retro looking appliances. Those I can more easily afford. Especially when a friend gave me her Dualit!! And for decoration purposes only, I purchased a 1920's toaster off of etsy.com

I have a table lamp on my kitchen table. The ceiling light is so none descriptive in that corner. I thought it would be easier to just find a table lamp that I love instead of trying to change the ceiling light. I absolutely love the look of lamps in the kitchen.

I love orange and blue!! My bedroom is done in those colors! My bedroom has light blue carpeting so, I paired a vermillion colored bedspread with it and some "granny faboulous" curtains with blue and orange in them as well.

You could also look online at either etsy.com or eBay. I purchased some fantastic "grandma-fabulous" fabric on eBay and made them into curtains and had a cornice made from the fabric. I found my fabric by performing a search in eBay using the term "Brunschwig & Fils" because I really like their fabric. The fabric I choose was way cheaper than if I had actually bought the real stuff. You could perform a similiar search with whatever designer or company fabric you like and see what kind of results you get.

I love my closet! I have a high boy dresser on one side with a glass lamp, perfume tray, and painting on top of it. My great-grandmother's chair is in there as well as a fun painting. On the other wall is where I hang clothes. Not bad for a 4 x 7 room. Oh, and I took the bifold doors off and hung sheer curtains instead.
