Lets break this down as to why the author and commentators arent all that thrilled with touch interfaces on PCs.

Apple doesnt have one for Macbook Pros or iMacs.

Since they dont, the typical reader here thus see it as stupid, a distraction, or just "hard" to deal with.

None of this is true, nor does it make any honest sense as the touch features with Windows 8 dot forbid the use of a keyboard or mouse no more than the mass inclusion of the mouse in the 80s didnt render the keyboard obsolete.

But I will guarantee you the minute Apple copies this idea, hopefully not tying to con a patent in the process, the wholesale opinion here will shift 180 to touchscreen computers being awesome, fun, so useful, and a great enhancement even though the basics haven't changed, just the logo on the box will be one to give permission to be hypocrites.

Is there any other device that you can ask us if we want other than....

iPads?
iPods?
iPhones?
iMacs?
Mac book Airs?

You do know that more than just Apple exists?

Or has this site just turned into iUnplggd?

How about less Apple references, shots of Apple offices, images of some Apple accessory, case, cover, or unrelated tool that was fashioned into some Apple product?

CAN WE PLEASE GET SOME VARIETY HERE?

The complete reliance on apple stuff for 99% of your blog posts because that's what you use in your life, is just LAZY.

Nothing about Android, Windows Phone, and I doubt the Playbook.

Other than Apple users bashing them in the comments.

You may start attracting more readers if you stop pretending that no one wants to read this blog other than Apple snobs.

The iPhone has a very large and incredibly fast growing market share both in the US and worldwide. As of March, the iPhone commanded over 50% of smartphone web traffic in the US alone. It has a much larger and better supported software development ...

Now, I realize from past posts that you're not the biggest fan of Apple but you can't ignore numbers. Need I complain about Windows getting some (fewer) applications first? Ikea's heads are not in their posteriors but where most consumers' are......looking at their iPhones."

Like I will say again after your regurgitation of "OMG Apple is like soooooo awesome" rah rah cheer talk...

((((IKEA APPARENTLY DOES NOT WANT MY BUSINESS))))

Once you pull your heads out of your rear and realize that people with Android, Windows Mobile, Black Berry, and Symbian or Java phones might want to browse your catalog, maybe then we can do business.

Ikea wants people like me to shop their catalog online? Then they better start thinking a bit outside of the box. I'm not going to buy an Apple phone just to buy from them.

Need you complain about Windows getting some applications first? Well maybe I can recite Windows usage numbers (billion worldwide), and the fact that Windows7 is on more PC now than there are Apple boxes combined, as a reason for people to stop wasting time on making Mac versions apps since it's such a nothing number?

Cant argue with numbers, can we?

I will make a honest effort to send stuff to you guys in the future, but I'm not buying that you cant find any PC/windows related stuff online, at least not to the point where you come here and scroll down for 2 pages and see mostly:

Macbook shots

Desk with iPhone

iPhone App

Laptop stand with Apple laptop

iMac setup #1243

iPod on a charger dock.

Where was the posts about the ZuneHD, Courier, or the Nook?

I like to play a game when I come here called "spot the Apple product" because it seems many stories only appears because an Apple product snuck into the story photo.

Also, If you guys seriously cant find home office shots with PCs in it, then look here:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/show_us_all/pool/

Lifehacker has a pool on Flickr too:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/lifehacker-workspace-showandtell/pool/

Also the idea that only Apple has some higher commitment to aesthetics over others is nonsense as well. They haven't changed the design of their products for years, while others have been experimenting with new form factors. Look at the touchscreen home PC from HP for instance or the ultra-thin PCs from Dell. Compare that to an iMac that looks like the same one from 2007. Besides those design mags that constantly pimp Apple stuff in every issue are just being lazy.

This is nice and all. But do you guys ever look for accessories or software or news items that actually pertain to PCs/Windows?

In a recent post you said that most of the people who write for this blog use PCs, but 99% of all of the stories are either Apple related or Apple illustrated.

I dont mean to be a pest about this, but it really would be nice to see some non-Apple related stuff more frequently than it happens now.

PC are the most versatile machine you can receive for your dollar. Virus and spyware can easily be handled by free apps that run in the background, and by exercising some common sense, so that is no real issue.

PDAs/Cell phones by and large are made to work with Windows than anything else, and it's a good time to buy as many laptop makers are giving free upgrades to Windows7, which is even better at handling portable device, not to mention having Windows Media Center to record and sync all of your content.

But yeah, Read lots of reviews, and just go and try stuff out on a free Saturday.

DONT RUSH!

I do have a Mac G3 in the basement, gathering dust.

Never found a particle use for it.

We have a tiny portable record player that has a built in speaker.

I attached wires to the speaker and then, with a little splicing, patched it into the AUX input of my stereo so we can fill the house with my ABBA and Bob Denver.

When done, it easily fits on a shelf and looks like a simple box.

I have a box that converts the monitor-out from my PC to composite video. I then just plug it into the back of my TV. It works reasonable well.

Just dont buy it. Any mp3 player works for audio lectures.

I went to a design school that required you to buy a Mac laptop.

I already owned a PC laptop that ran the same software they required for some of the classes.

I basically told them that I'm paying YOU you go to school here, and if you dont like my platform choice then just bar me from going to class, buy me the stupid Apple laptop out of your own pocket, or dont cash my tuition check.

So yeah, I took the classes without any fuss. and did better grade wise than most of the other students.

"Incredible Looking Styrofoam Chandelier: Uses Something From Apple"

"That's what Eric Lawrence decided to do and he didn't just use any Styrofoam. He used Styrofoam that came from Apple. "

Um, so? Does this add some sort of wow factor to it? Or are we supposed to just wet our pants with glee because the Styrofoam came from an Apple box? Heaven help us if that's the only reason the writer cared about this.

Nice project. Bizarre write-up.

I have a computer in my kitchen.

I use it to play news videos or play music as I clean or prepare a meal. It also runs weather, and RSS widgets, so it acts like an information terminal as well.

But a TV just to have Jerry Springer running in the background? No thanks.

It's nice to see a brand with such a strong identity not take the easy route of making everything in the office look like the product they sell.

Not a Lego chair or lamp in sight.

I actually have quite a number of these, salvaged from garage sales and such.

With a lot of baby boomers retiring and moving out of state,or being foreclosed on, many are opting to clean out their attics of their kids toys from the 70s and 80s, so this may be the best time to ever snag one of these gems.

My favorite: My Tomytronics tabletop Pacman game.

@Nouniard

I think the issue many PC have with this site, despite how much we enjoy it, is that it is so heavily skewed to Apple this, Mac/iPod/iPhone that, that it starts to look less like a blog about technology in the home but more like a blog about Apple products in the home. I was shocked to see in the past week, several stories that actually talked about PCs, or had a PC pictured. It was like I wanst on the same site.

I personally would like to see some balance. Unless they blog writes offically turn this into iUnplggd.com, then that isnt too much to ask.

"It seems a lot of PC users have trouble saying anything good about Apple..."

Not really. But get a group of Apple fans together and see how many good things they can say about non-Apple stuff. I know some of these types, they are as narrow as the opening of a straw, and are PROUD of it.

We can say lots of good things about Apple. But why complement them when they spend their time bashing what we use, and us as well?

"...When the iPhone was released and various companies started making , the non-Apple people whined saying "It's not like Apple invented the touch screen/multi-touch" yadda yadda. Well no, they didn't."

Now you get it. The LG Prada folks certainly didnt care that Apple did their own spin on an idea that they released before them. As I recall several Apple fans posted to the effect that the design of the LG Prada was too simple for Apple not to "adopt", which is the word they use when they dont want to use the terms they use for with other companies like "copy-cats" and "ripoffs" and "knockoffs".

Apple, and their fans, should not care when others try their hand at it too.

But sadly, as I'm sure you seen with them, Apple fans, once Apple release a product, NO ONE is allowed to try their own version. When it's the other way around, it's ok.

Right on, yakov!

Some Apple users are so hopelessly out to lunch that they think everyone is "stealing" or "ripping off" Apple. Of course Apple hasnt done any of this stuff, has nothing that looks like this stuff, and has no patents on this stuff.

But it's really Apple's stuff, and MS stole their ideas to make this video? Riiiiight...

It's almost a mental illness they have where they can never accept that other companies have great ideals, products and concepts. Noooooo, all of those ideas are really Apple's and that these guys have no right to even exist. They have the worst attitudes on the internet.

As far as the feasibility of these concepts? Of course these will happen by 2020!

AT&T did a series of ads in the early 90s that detailed what they though the future would be like in, I assume now A.D.. At the time they looked pretty far-fetched.

Send a E-Fax from the beach?

Watch movies when you wanted?

Electronic car navigation?

This stuff has a way of sneaking up on us fast.

In 2000, how many thought we would have the phones we have today in 2009?
