An exercise in restraint and sophistication, however it is also a little humorless. Matthew & Mikel's DIY Water+Works Remodel House Tour |

I am an Australian/Canadian who has spent my entire adult life in Asia. I have just purchased an Italian walnut shoe storage for outside my apartment but I would never and have never dealt with shoes inside. I lived in Japan for a decade and I couldn't have coped with people wearing shoes indoors. In fact Japanese won't even visit a house/home where people don't take off their shoes. My current apartment in Taiwan has bamboo shoes, which cannot cope with shoes. I see people with shoes on and I feel a little nauseous. I would never and could never, no matter where I lived, permit anyone to wear their shoes indoors. It is just plain dirty. Do You Leave Your Shoes at the Door? | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

It is very Alice in Wonderland, and I think that is wonderful. It is absolutely not to my aesthetic, but it shows character, warmth and wit. Most places in magazines and sometimes on these house tours are showcases to affluence and financial achievements. I am thrilled to see a place that is testament to personality over price. Lovely, really lovely. From the outside I thought meh! but the inside looks like Upper East Side meets Palm Beach, with a touch of whimsy. Really outstanding. Joanna & Dave's Arizona Dream Home House Tour | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

My initial thought was, "God that will be murder to live with" but looking at the details I was knocked out. The exquisite Art Nouveau flourishes make it wonderful, it is subtle and luxurious at the same time (not easy to create). Classicism mixed with modernity is wonderful. I like it, the light and the space is wonderful, although a little overboard with the David Bromley ;) variety is the spice of life. House Tour: Anna Spiro's Brisbane AbodeBrisbane | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

That is not clutter, the is encroachment! I am all for fun and whimsy, but that looks like the contents of a junk store exploded. My key is, would I want people to see this, and if so, how do I want them to view it? Apartment Therapy DC | How to: Regain Order When Collections Turn Into Clutter |

The mosquito coil is not poisonous, and the suggestion that they are is crazy. They are a traditional Japanese invention called Katori Senko. Literally it means Mosquito (ka) away (tori) incense (senko). It is basically a type of incense and the smell is very similar to the temple incense that is used in Japan and Taiwan. I love it for now, but it looks like it will be dated very soon....it has a touch of the Memphis 80's Italian style, so I wonder how long will you want to live with it. Apartment Therapy Boston | Kente Outdoor Furnishings by Philippe Bestenheider |

Ummm guys, as I was scrolling through the images, I couldn't help but be reminded of "Love Hotels" in Japan or "Motels" in Taiwan, as they are euphemistically called. Many of them also have "fantasy" themed rooms, and the general public knows exactly what they entail. Only time will tell how long it survives in the oversaturated hotel market of Hong Kong and Kowloon. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Fantasy Decor: The Luxe Manor of Hong Kong |

Hmmm, I am still not convinced. I like the idea, but am also terrified of the possibility of messing it up. I love the first photo, the orange pops, but it popped in 1970's interiors too, hence my fear of fab today and foul tomorrow. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Brightly Painted Furniture |

Well firstly, I live in 500 square feet, so I know the joys and suffering of small spaces. I loved it really. It is a clever and ingenious use of space. I think limited space is like an orchestra, when it is done well you have something special and it says something about you. This is the Vienna Philharmonic. But boys, teddy bears? Really? Without a hint of irony? A place with everything perfectly calibrated and united and then teddy bears on the bed? Okay well, it's the equivalent of a broken string on a viola. Brava!
