My kids have shared a room since my son was 9mths old and it has been great, my daughter is 3. They love having each other so close by. We do have them nap in separate rooms as that means both get the amount of daytime sleep that they need. My youngest goes to bed first and is usually asleep by the time his sister jumps into bed half an hour later. They have never really disturbed each other over night if one cries which is great. Faq was worried about the potential for chaos. Well it will happen, occasionally, and when it does you will laugh so hard at what they have gotten up to and these will be memories you will have forever. We once found both kids in the crib jumping for their lives and laughing so hard. That is priceless!

There are some great tips here. I do not know how many times I have to tell my husband not to drop his pennies on the floor and leave them there. My son swallowed a plum seed (long story) and following Dr's orders we were sifting through his diapers to wait for it to come out the other end. Much to our surprise out it came along with 2 pennies. I had no idea he had even swallowed any. Scary.
I also want to say that toy boxes can be really dangerous, especially old ones or homemade ones. They must have an air inlet somewhere around the top as kids can climb in and hide and not be able to push up the top to get out. Unfortunately a person I know lost her 3 yr old son this way.

5 Baby Proofing Ideas You Might Not Think Of | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh

Great topic, while I am not big into baby proofing at home I do think that it does make travelling with kids more stressful when your family does not have the right environment for you. It has never been the obvious baby proofing issues for me at my in-laws but other issues such as them carrying around their morning medications and dropping them all over the place, their poor vision means they can't find them and never pick them up. This also means dropped sewing pins and other unsafe items. I have to do a full sweep of the floor of their 6 bedroom home within minutes of arriving. The key is vigilance, I have to keep an eye on them at all times.

I also have a whole shelf (low down) in my pantry where I keep all the craft items in baskets for the kids along with art smocks. They are only 18mths and 3 so it is great to have it all close and they work at a little table in the kitchen where I can see what they are doing. It is also a great way of keeping it organized as I spend a lot of time in the pantry so it stays neat.

I use an old sheet put down under the high chair in the danger zone. After the meal I shake it out the window and when it gets really bad I chuck it in the wash. This works the best for us and is the cheapest and easiest to keep clean.

Please can someone delete the katiecupcake comment. That makes me feel sick! The sign is fine, that comment is not!

Gosh, so so mean. Morgan must be devastated by these comments, I would be. Right or wrong do you all think it is our place to anonymously abuse someone. Would you speak this way to your friends or family face on. I am sure you would not, think before you write!

I can see why someone came up with this idea (as I clean the mess from lunchtime off the floor) but it has some issues. The best money I have spent was on the baby bjorn soft plastic bib. It catches all the food that goes down the front (let's be honest if they are going to throw the food, even this bavettone won't help!) and when you are done I put mine in the dishwasher and it comes out perfectly clean. I also throw an old sheet down under high chair for meals, when finished, I pick up and shake out the window. Wash once a week and it is all good.

I am so glad that Greg responded to this. Honestly you people can be so mean. You all need to chill out and take a look at yourselves. I am sure you will all find issues with your own parenting decisions that need to be worked on before you hand out insults to other parents. That's just my two bobs worth!

In San Francisco, Hayley Durack is the greatest. She takes the most beautiful candid shots wherever you want and the package she presents is gorgeous. Here is her website with some examples.

I also feel that babyproofing on the most part is unnecessary. We have a 22mth old and have not one babyproofing gadget in our home. We close the bathroom doors, keep the chemicals up high and let her explore all the cupboards. They need to understand the things that you don't want them to touch by reinforcing "no". You need to remember that not everyone's house you will be in will be babyproofed so they need to learn these boundaries.
