Do it. Just smudge the place with sage. Light a stick of sage and go to each door and window to trace along the edge. When I smudged my house I said "Spirits of the (insert cardinal direction you are standing in) protect my home, let not evil cross it's threshold." At the very least it'll make you feel better. Feeling like you've somehow protected yourself from the ethereal is sometimes all you need, to prevent you from worrying. Would You Buy a House with a Dark History? Good Questions |

Freeze a 2 liter bottle with water. Put in a pillow case and hold to your chest like a teddy. Cooling down the central core will cool down all extremities as a result. My roomie calls them "ice babies". 8 Tips For A Cool Night's Sleep (Without the AC!) |

Hey if you live in the Seattle area and are not really enthused about big name baby stores, try Village Maternity near the University of Washington. Lots of cool stuff including the Nose Frida, Aden and Anais, Miracle Blanket, California Baby, Medela pump parts, Ergo Baby Sophie la Giraffe, Angel Dear, Boon, Gumdrop and cloth diapering stuff. All of these products I think are essentials. If you are deviating from a registry, then it is prudent for one to buy something from the registry and something that you think is an essential. You can never go wrong with asking the to-be parents. Tried and True Baby Essentials Recommendations Good Questions |

Hehehe @ the top picture. The burner isn't on and there isn't anything in the pot, no steam, nothing. It's a well put together shot, but the composition would have been complete if she'd actually been cooking. Talented at design, yes she is. I get things like soba sauce, gyoza wrappers, high quality buckwheat soba noodles, unagi and assorted sushi cuts when I'm in the mood for it and SAKE! It's fun to drink ramune and pick out other drinks where you can't read the label and try them. When I shop the "pocari sweat" package always makes me giggle. Also can't forget the hombow. They have some neat housewares but for the most part the housewares are over priced. Uwajimaya: Asian Specialty Foods Store Profile |

The best thing that works for me is sleeping with a frozen 2 liter of water in a pillow case. We call them "Ice Babies". Keeping something cold close to your chest helps ward off the heat as opposed to something on your extremities, which then gets reheated at the center of your body. This works really well for two people sleeping together. I live in Seattle and my roomie came up with it during the record heat last year. 9 Tricks to Beat the Heat (Without Turning Up the AC) | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |
