I think it depends on the kids; I'd ask them. This artwork wouldn't have creeped me out, yet porcelain dolls scared the shizzit out of me as a kid. Most parents think those are peachy keen, but they did NOT work for me... Keane Kids For Kids? |

I LOVE that mirror! It's beautiful. So is your beloved shower curtain. :) I also dig the kitchen -- with the ductwork, the striped kitchen peninsula, and the sleek cabinets. I like the way in both bedrooms you utilize artwork instead of a headboard. Pretty place! Erica's Contemporary Rogers Park Loft House Tour |

I'll open the door, especially if it's a neighbor. I know my neighbors pretty well -- at least the ones that would be comfortable enough to come over and ask for a cup of sugar (or an egg, or vegetable oil, as has happened). If I am feeling uneasy or it's nearing midnight, then no, I won't. When Do You Open Your Front Door? |

I love the idea of painting the recessed wall, but not the bulkead/soffitt/etc. I think it would make a more dramatic focal point. Where Should the Wall Paint Color Stop? Good Questions |

Along the lines of what skylark said...sometimes you have to be willing to do a bit more legwork. I've used both Weleda and Dr. Hauschka, but Skin Deep docks them for the "fragrance" listed on their label. Yes, artificial fragrance isn't good for you...but both Weleda and DH use essential oils - in Germany (where both of these companies originate), it isn't required that they list their "patented" essential oil blends, so they only indicate "fragrance." To be honest, I sell bulk spices and herbs....and in no way does the vendor make a better margin on bulk. It can actually hurt the bottom line, which is why more and more companies are steering clear. As a consumer though, I have noticed savings, especially in spices and things such as pasta and rice.
