If a "real" door is what you want/need, you could try padding the frame of the door with some 1x4s. What I'm basically suggesting is that you "extended" the door frame a bit. Then, finish off with some molding, rehang the door, and you should be fine. Providing, of course, that you don't mind the door "protruding" an inch or so beyond the wall.

Aside from that, some ultra thick curtains would be the only other suggestion I've got.

Lots of luck!

Good Questions: How Best To Cover My Washer/Dryer?

Egads! How much? I remember when I lived in The City several years back... drop off would be only $14, and that's for two week's worth of laundry!

Anyhoo, assuming you have the money, or at least a credit card, look into one of those ALL-IN-ONEs—a washer/dryer in one. LG makes one that you can connect to your sink and runs on regular voltage so you don't need any special plumbing or electrical. (See review at: http://www1.epinions.com/content_210468966020) Best part is that you can take it with you wherever you go. It would pay for itself in about 115 loads.

Hope this helps!

AT Survey: How Do You Wash Your Duds?

I actually bought one of these a while back and, I have to say, I wish it performed as well as it was cute. The beak/spout kept clogging up and I never got a decent amount at one shot——I would strongly recommend diluting whatever you put in it. And don't be surprised if you have to trim the beak a little because the pour "spout" is incredibly tiny. As for stability, it fell off the wire stand/holder more than once. Still, this was just my experience with it. Worth $16.99? Not from my experience.

Truly inspired and well done! I would do a couple of things differently, like take advantage of the high walls to showcase some art and add more seating. If you're going to stick to white, consider adding more texture to help give it depth. My only "oh-no?" Cushions on the Prince AHA stools. More substantial dining room chairs would double the seating capacity. (See whiteonwhite.com for excellent prices on reproductions of the classics.) But, hey... I'm just an armchair designer. Overall, nicely done. This captures the spirit of the contest! Hope the judges agree.

I agree... it's a beautiful piece. The medicine cabinet in this series is absolutely fabulous. But, the prices were way too steep for us. We're in the tale end of our mid-century ranch renovation and spent MONTHS looking for pieces that fit the mod feel we were going for. We bought the Starck 3 toilet and sink. I desperately wanted this piece, but it just wasn't in the budget.

Monika1... sounds like you bought smart to me! We might just do the same. (Ikea opens in Orlando in fall, thank God!)

You said you "garaged yourself" out of that possibility, here's one that you might be willing to entertain: call and estate sales house. They price the items, they advertise the sale, and they do the bulk of the work. Of course, there's a fee involved, but it's work considering! If there is anything that you suspect may have a considerable amount of value, you may want to call in an appraiser beforehand to ensure you get top dollar for it. Good luck!

Sorry, but I feel it's missing any design innovation and the "holy crap I can't believe she did that!" part present in several other entries.
