Lol, your 5-year old knows the color aqua? That's awesome!

Maybe it's from a crayon, if so, that would be a good start. I understand aqua is more like blue-green vs. the green-blues like turquoise or teal. Think, blue with a touch of green.

I'm with Dulcibella. You can overdo it and end up a hoarder. Trust me.

My current methodology for secondhand shopping is if I like it, I scoop it up. This way, no one else has a chance to get it first.

BUT once I've picked up all the things I like, I then sort through it, deciding to only buy what I *really* like/need.

Interesting views on the sample pots... maybe the quality varies per each brand? I've used sample pots of Behr's paint+primer on furniture projects and have had no issues.

After folding towels, we had to stack them on the shelf in such a way that the fold appeared first. My mother's rationale was so that it looked neat and orderly, plus it was easy to determine how many towels were left.

I used to think it was anal, then I found myself doing it too.

You've done a great job combining so many colors---that's not an easy decorating task! And of course, the bathroom... swoon!

Thanks! I actually only have the actual light/lantern from your lamp, but maybe that once coordinated with an Arco base. I appreciate it!

I could tell it was something older but I wasn't sure just how old. One day I will learn! Thanks for your reply!

Lovely home you have! Would you be able to give more info the white hanging lamp in your living room? I recently bought one of these at a consignment store but have no info on what/who it is! Thanks!

Your space feels so comfy and homey! Can you give any info on the lanterns of your living room lamp? I have the same shade as a pendant and am dying to know more info about it!

So glad to see your apartment in this contest! I came across it a few months ago, and yours is definitely one that's a strong contender. I adore how unique and well-crafted your space is. You have my vote!

YES! This is my method as well, although I can't bear to get my hands that close to those effers. After freezing them enough with the hairspray, I either whack them with a shoe or sweep them up with a broom (assuming they're dead, of course).

This is the second recent post I've seen on AT where people have used this paint color. It's really a fantastic shade with lots of depth. Love it and the makeover!

I like the bathroom idea---very clever and easy to grab those items quickly.

After reading how the standard pegboard can warp, I didn't want to take any chances. I used steel pegboards in my kitchen, which you can see here:
Apartment Kitchen Makeover They're very sturdy and hold up well if you install them properly (wall anchors for me).

I'm anti-open shelving, but only using the pegboard for pots/pans, I have them hanging with the burner side outward.

Also, don't always rely on those plastic markers they put in the soil for care info. I've gotten some plants whose markers read a very different light/moisture requirement than is best for that plant. Do your research first.

Rootbound isn't necessarily a bad thing, as some plants actually prefer to be rootbound.

Be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to gnats. They love to lay eggs in moist soil and I've found very hard to get rid of. They can infest all your plants. I had to get rid of a whole collection last year.

These are great ideas!

As a renter for the past 16 years, I've used several methods to get texture/pattern/color on the walls without painting them. One method I've used is hanging bamboo matchstick blinds (made over with easy DIY whitewashing) on the walls: DIY Whitewashed Bamboo Blinds

Another method is by painting a distressed, color block pattern on plywood and hanging it on the walls: DIY Distressed Color Block Wall Art

Also, I have highlighted other bloggers' projects on how to decorate walls with color and pattern when you can't paint:

Yay for Toledo! I also agree more photos would be awesome, and I'm not just saying that because this home is from my town.

Love the wall colors in the living room and dining room. Can you tell us what they were, please?

Perfect timing for me also, as I've been trying out some macrame for the first time. Unfortunately, I started with the tutorial from #6, and the instructions aren't great.
