Personally, I really like the Culver City area. The apartments arent the cheapest, but the neighborhood is great. There is a Trader Joes, Movie Theater and TONS of restaurants (even a wine bar) all within walking distance - which is rare since "nobody walks in LA."

Ha! While I am not a fan of this particular backsplash I am still jealous they have one! I just did a kitchen "makeover" on a VERY limited budget and happen to think it looks just as good or better than this one. Check it out a www.lglf.blogspot.com

First, to those who state that arc lamps are "overdone", plese remember that everyone has different taste.

I happen to think the arc light is great in that space but agree with some of the other comments about it potentially getting in the way of sexy time. I also think the suggstion of getting some kind of under mounted shade so you arent staring up into the light bulb was brilliant.

Maybe just live with it a while, but in the end, go with your gut.

Arc Lamp in the Bedroom?

I am actually repainting my kitchen this weekend and will be taking off the doors to one of the cabinets for a more open look. We have some pretty white dishes that we use all the time and I thought it would be a nice change to see orderly stacks of clean dishes in the kitchen. We use them often so I dont think that dust will be an issue. We may have to put the doors back on if our cats start sleeping with the plates for some reason...

Would any of you be interested in speciality pre-made pastry dough? I am giving some serious consideration to ditching my day job and marketing artisan pre-made pastry dough. So far I have great recipes for lemon, almond, pistachio, and corn meal and will be working on chocolate and spiced in the near future. All ntural ingredients of course...

Personally I would buy it since the current options are down right nasty (read BHA as a preservative!!!), but would any of you??
Email me at sarahsbones at gmail dot com with suggestions, tips, and feedback. Thanks!

Hm, I would likely play with my parents and my close family friends since none of the people my age know as much about food as I do. Totally spanking them at the game just doesnt seem sportswomanly!

I am an archaeologist studying the diet of ancient Peruvians. Most people dont know that the origin of the word "jerky" is actually a Quechua (indigenous peruvian language) word, "ch'arki," which is dried llama meat.

So, um, what can you do with baby artichokes? I have always seen them and been intrigued but I am not familiar with any recipes.

So, I am a huge trader joes fan AND I happen to be a huge dairy fanatic. Has anyone tried the low fat goat cheese available at Trader Joes? The color is a little different than its full fat sister, but I am curious about the taste... Please let me know if you have tried it.
