Great update! I really dig the gray and yellow combination. I live in the DC area too and have these EXACT row houses in my neighborhood, many of which are painted. People who are anti-painted brick will really hate visiting DC.

No matter how you dress it up, no matter how you spin it; no matter how poetic the delivery or how glossy the photos; this chair will always and forever be hideous. I'm certain that the main reason I find it so ugly is its ubiquity. Like some of the other posters, when I think of this chair I also think of dirty, unkempt yards with cars up on blocks and houses with bedsheets in the windows and porches with peeling paint.

Unfortunately, not all functional items have to be pretty, so I anticipate this chair being around for a long time. They're cheap, they're plentiful, and people always need a chair to sit in.

Sheesh, haven't we all experienced those oak strip cabinets at one time or another? I consider them one of the top design mistakes of the 80's.
I love what you've done here, and especially for the price. Great job!

The paint job is absolutely beautiful. The gold accents are fantastic. I love how much design went into the work, particularly in choosing the right combination of colors.

The before did not appear to be an antique, or anything special, really. It was actually quite ugly. I think it was a good choice to paint it and repurpose it, particularly as a piece of furniture as temporary as a changing table.
No, it's not the best paint job in the world, but what I like about AT is that there's a sense of 'realness' from the posters. These aren't all super-duper design geniuses, but real people doing real DIY's, who can inspire others to do the same.

This is absolutely brilliant. It's one of the best Before & Afters because it took a lot of foresight to find great design in such a ubiquitously mundane item. So glad to not see that one person in the comments who "liked it better before". Great job!

For such a progressive generation, we sure do seem to hate change! I guarantee that in a week, no one will even notice the change. Instead of dealing with it, it apparently is just so much more fun to complain about it. Also a lot of the complaints seem to stem from a lack of reading the instructions that were provided about how to navigate. Just sayin'.

Don't worry, AT. I still love you, change or not.

The bad: I could have done without the staging in the photos *shrugs*

The good: The color scheme is amazing! I also like how cohesive the furniture is. Is that a hacked Malm? Lurve it.

The gooder: The kitchen is my favorite! Those tiles are rockin' my world.

I love how on the website, they show a graphic of a person scrolling through their "art collection" on their iPad. Now I can be pretentious on the go!
This is almost as good as the term "Giclee".

Sigh. Haters gonna hate.

Anyway, this bed is really beautiful. I don't think I like the low night stand though. I love the wood as shown, but does it come in other stains? It would be cool if it were darker.
Love, Twihard Designer :)

Snark, snark, snark. Whenever there's a Before & After, there's always like a thousand people screaming that they like the before better. Is that a thing now?

Anyway, this is good design. Very good design. The nailheads are done so well. And I love the green accent pillow. Bravo!

I'm desperately trying to figure out what everyone sees that was so great about the 'before', and I'm coming up short. Didn't like it at all. The 'after' is okay. The neutral colored fabric wouldn't have been my choice, but I do like the stripes and the accents in the pillows. Overall, I think it works. Great makeover!
