Hi I'm originally from Phx and my dad is a master stone mason. If I were you I would veneer this fireplace. The block that was used is nothing special. You can veneer with stone, brick or stucco. Personally I like the stucco style for an AZ home, but I would round out the corners a little bit. If you went with brick, you could used a cheap small brick and paint the bricks. I was just in Philly where an artist did this to her million year old fireplace and it lookedj great. Stone would be nice too. But don't pick those spikey stones. Smaller river stones are cool or you could go the cultured stone route which isn't my favorite but looks okay. This all depends on what aesthetic you're going for. Also why don't you have a gas insert installed so you can actually use the fire place? That's what a fireplace is for afterall. Makeover Ideas for Brown-Painted Fireplace? Good Questions |

I just finished rehabbing my 1920's wood cabinets including stripping and polishing original chrome hinges and pulls. It turned out so great but instead of my estimated day or two it was about two weeks worth of work. It changed the look of our kitchen so much on a whim we drove down to the Bay Area from Seattle to get a vintage Wedgewood stove. On the way back the car broke down but when it was all l said and done it was well worth it. When the Mood Strikes: Impulse Makeovers & Upgrades |

I lived in a beautiful early 20th century apartment in Lower Queen Anne, Seattle. It was a corner apartment so I had windows on two sides. One of the windows perfectly framed the Space Needle which was gorgeous at night. Hardwood floors, built in kitchen nook table, radiators, french doors. It was small but wonderful...and only 350 a month in 1989. Tell Us: What Was The Best Rental You've Ever Had? |

Your kitchen looks great. I'm in the middle of semi renovating my 1926 kitchen. My stove doesn't have a hood and I like the way yours looks. This may seem like a dumb question but is your hood vented out of an outside wall or did you have to run the duct work through the ceiling? The tile work in your bathroom fantastic.
