Great idea! As an interior designer I know how difficult it is to express your own conceps in other people's interiors - it is our obligation to do what our clients want. That is why I am convinced that for a client to understand the real value of an interior designer it is best to look at the designers' own homes and then choose whom to hire. But that is rarely the case if ever at all. I wonder why?

Although I do not agree that the classic cantilevered chair 'has been somewhat out of the popular loop for the past decade or two' (just 4 examples:

I do like your post and the discovery that there has been a resurgence of the classic cantilevered chair at the recent Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair. I like very much the design on the last photo - great idea not only for the office, but also for work at home.

You must have a look at Patricia Urquiola's striking new furniture designs for Mutina - the BUGS FAMILY which will be presented in January 2010. What she achieved with the tiles now is being used in furniture.

I definitely think that the brushed- and matte-finish metal fixtures are more elegant. With their subtle glow they make homes warmer. And I expect that they will continue to be prefered. But I am so much for going away of taxidermy!

The Rainbow Room has great colour scheme, but it is too thought out and too neatly arranged - just for taking pictures and less for playing and living in. Why - the walls are too intense and may provoke hiperactivity; there are also too many sharp corners and a lamp at very low level which make this room unsuitable for a kid. I like all the accents and all the furniture, but may be for a teenage girl?
