We used the Craigslist map view of potential apartments so we could look by neighborhood. Then I researched the apartments and called them directly. It helped to give me at least a first impression of what their management may be like (i.e. were they friendly and available? did they call back or follow up?) and got me a more direct response than emailing back and forth about what time I can come look at the apartment, etc. Apartment Hunting: Low Tech vs Hi-Tech |

I've been rocking the box-a-day model for a while now (my move is only 3 weeks away!!) and I've found it INCREDIBLY helpful. I have a bit of a benefit in that I'm moving out of a four person house, but my other three roommates are staying so I can pack all my pots and pans, and still have dishes to eat with. So currently I've packed all but a few essential items (i.e. microwave, some lamps) from the shared spaces and now am just focusing on my bedroom and closet (a feat of it's own).
