Simple, a couple of floating shelves. Then you'll have some space to set books, pictures, etc. Just make sure that the shelves are as wide as the media console.

check out the dapro camera bag from DeviantArt. Its very snazzy, even if it might not fit the bill for everyone. If I had a slr/dslr I'd own one for sure.

I followed the links on this post to older posts here on AT - which lead me to the AT Store which I had no idea existed, however it says its "closed for renovations." Any idea when this store will open back up, just curious?

Are you set on it being NEW new? I mean, if your looking to find something more your "style," and money is the really determining factor, explore Craigslist. You can find some nice deals from time to time.

As for the couch your showing here, I can't say much about Costco furniture... however, as someone else has mentioned, their return policy is pretty top-notch. If in a couple of months it isn't for you, take it back for a refund.

Gonna agree with a previous commenter above and say gray! Several different tones (warm-cool), just make sure you keep some white accents (the moldings). Then you can basically pick and choose the colors you like in small doses to make the place punch.

If you have a new TV with an HDTuner inside (pretty much all TVs since 07?), then its even easier - buy an antennae at your local BestBuy, Target, etc. Plug it in and pick up HD Channels for free. I get ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX - including some local channels all for a grand total of 30 dollars. That's one 30 dollar payment, and no monthly bills. If you don't have the tuner... well... then ya gotta get one of those HD Tuner boxes of course, not sure if you can still get the government coupons for it either. Still though, $30 price of Tuner Box = $100-120 < Cable for 12 months. I am also big fan of Netflix and Hulu... BRING BOTH TO PS3 and make my life easier.

It all depends on the following:
- What are you doing on your laptop right now?
- What do you wish you could be doing on your laptop?
- What can you give up?

I'll even make it simpler for you. If your phone is an iPhone, and you use iTunes exclusively for all your music... and your collection is large... then stick with a Mac. Lets face it, iTunes for PC is pretty much a joke when compared to the Mac version.

If all your going to be doing is listening to music, browsing the internet, etc... then a Mac would probably be in your best interest because its good at doing the basics and you'll save time having to rework your music collection.

... my guard dog lacks the ability to... guard. But man oh man, would he hound that burglar relentlessly through the apartment until they gave in and played with his tennis ball. And if we know one thing about burglars, they are suckers for puppy eyes. haha.

Best way to do it, if your looking to make accurate floor plans on the cheap, is by hand. Buy an architectural scale (probably $2-3 dollars) and some graph paper (any paper will do, but the graph paper will help when it comes to drawing straight lines). The best part about doing it this way is you can cut out the shapes of furniture you've measured and rearrange the pieces on the floor plan quickly to come up with different possibilities.

For those of you who are computer literate, and also don't mind dabbling in a little 3D - Google Sketchup is a FREE program that will allow you to draw floorplans. It also has a library of modern/contemporary furniture you can also play with on your floorplans. For those who would rather not get into the 3D aspect, you can change the view to TOP VIEW and turn OFF the PERSPECTIVE aspect of the camera -- by doing all this, you essentially change the view to a PLAN view.

Back in college, I'd see similar chairs being sold at Walmart to college kids... the difference is, these chairs were more like $20-35 dollars versus $449. I can forgive it because, these are college kids who want cheap furniture that they can easily trash without fear of ruining something 'special'. The only adult I would assume to have one of these would have to be like Steve Carell in 40 Year Old Virgin (and to the 3 people out there who haven't seen the movie, he plays the title character). And I agree... they are hideous.

All of the ideas above are good, but if none of them seem to work for you... I say sell the rugs ('less they have sentimental reasons). I don't like trying to 'fit' things where they might not belong - plus you can use the money to either purchase a larger rug or something else.

Its because architects typically can't afford to live in the odd/ugly buildings they design... ;) Hehe.

Best part about this house... we don't see the GARAGE in any shot. Can't stand these cookie cutter homes where from the street it looks like the garage makes up 2/3 of the home, its the first thing anyone sees - its like, "hello, this is where my car lives... and I have a nice little room back here for me too - welcome!" =P
Hire architects! ;)
