"In the 19th century and earlier, back when people had to grow enough food to feed themselves through the winter, the bitter greens and young vegetables and herbs of spring were a way to "thin the blood" and make you feel less lethargic."

No, that's because these foods came into season, not because they wanted to "thin the blood". It wasn't a health fad, it was eating to survive. It's not like most of them could ship in some fresh apples from the other side of the world.

Does anyone have the cup measure for this much flour? I have no scale...

I have a big blue bouncy ball, and it's a lot of fun, but going 'boing!' or falling over gets distracting.

If you browned small chunks of chicken breast, wouldn't it be dried out? :(

Uh, isn't this "sifting"? I was expecting something like the whisk trick, where you use a whisk to fluff things after you measure them into your mixing bowl.

I sift because my flour often has impurities, and nobody likes to find a glue-y lump.

I see the only problem I'd have with this is making sure everything was glued down firmly.

And then there's me, whose bedroom is also her office, living room, dining area, kitchen, library, potting shed and exercise room. Several of these bedrooms are bigger than my whole living space. I'd be hardcore if this was intentional. :P

Seems like apartment therapy is thinking the same things I am- I just went out and bought two boring plastic IKEA underbed storage boxes for my gentleman's clothes, now that he's moved in with me. It makes a huge difference.

That's not really 'mismatched', that actually involves more matching and effort than buying a few sets of pillow cases and a few duvet covers and not thinking about it.

Scrub, don't peel. The good stuff is in the peel. :9

I also leave poatoes in their jackets, even when I make mash. The only thing I peel is eggplant.

If all it takes to inspire you is a rock with words on it in a bowl, you probably don't need the rock. Still, if it floats your boat, why not? Certainly my mother's cheap fridge magnet, with "To Hell With the Housework", which went with us whenever we moved, made each new place home.

I'm not 'generation Ikea', I'm 'generation grew up with flat pack furniture because we were too poor to afford anything else, so we even have the flatpack from my mother's childhood' (it's these horrible metal bookcases I used to cut myself on).

It needs something of a soft fabric to dangle in the lamp hole, and stop it from looking so stark. Try stringing beads in the colour of your blankets on a grey cord and then attach with glue?

It's have to say that furniture equipment is an excellent idea in that such items are very space intensive and very seldom pretty. Could have been better cabinets though.
