we live in an upscale loft apartment with 12" concrete floors and ceiling on top of steel "I" beams it does not help. The couple above us have a grand piano that she plays non stop and badly, plus clomping around with hard shoes we have no idea when they sleep. We have been told soundproofing will not help,so we are going to try to sell our unit even in this financial climate at a loss. Sanity is worth more than money. Don't ever move into a condo or an apartment without checking the noise level several different times of the day and night when the people are in above you !!!!!
