I have a child who just completed first year at a university.

1. xl Twin beds are extremely uncomfortable without good bedding.
2. buy a zipped protective cover for the mattress to protect from bed bugs
3.buy a 3 inch memory foam...a king size 1.5 inch folded in half is the best and cheapest
way to own this item
4. buy a xl twin mattress pad to cover foam and mattress
5. buy the best quality sheets you can find (pottery barn teen has great patterns)
6.place comforters in a duvet cover because the school washing machines do not
clean large comforters well
7.invest in quality pillows and bolsters

a year of quality sleep is better than any decorating plan available

look at this years winner of the cool small contest....the NY apartment used a murphy bed

in the design....the room was efficient, organized and beautiful

I have a similar room..
1. the room needs curtains
2. large art instillations
3. area rugs
4. divide the room into sleeping and sitting/relaxing areas
5. pick the bedding first and wall color will follow
6. painting the ceiling a color besides white will help make the room feel cozy

ideas for work space:

a closet....move coats or bedding from a hall closet and outfit with shelves for computer and
storage

formal dining room....line a wall with book shelves, cover table with a pad and cloth and you have a wonderful desk

formal living room...divide room into a small sitting area and a workspace in the other area

sofa back.....float sofa in a room and place a long sofa table with a pull out draw behind the couch, place pretty baskets below the sofa table and pull up a chair

I would suggest picking out the bedding first....then select a wall color. It is much easier to

match paint colors than find fabric to match a color.

move tv to opposite side of room from windows....place sofa on wall with windows and

angle a club chair near opening by dining room. Large ottoman and area rug and

you are good to go.
