Similar product, I like the execution of this one a bit better. Also doubles as an iPhone stand! https://www.buytheta.com/

Truth be told, for the overwhelming of people out there, a 3D printer would be largely useless for one reason - you need to know how to use CAD software well to generate anything worth printing. CAD is more difficult to learn than Microsoft Word, and the packages worth learning (those that can consistently create print-ready parts) are costly as well. Solidworks (popular for those that rely on 3D printing in their profession, like myself) can be upwards of $4k. Even if the price were $500 for the printer, aside from the 2000 free iphone case designs you can find out there for free to print, it would not afford you any ability without a large learning curve.

Really?! No mention of one of these elastic tethers? Like the most basic and makes it literally impossible to lose your cap. Under $4 at Target. http://www.target.com/p/universal-lens-cap-keeper-1-x3-75-x5-4/-/A-13724289.

Wait, so we are relying on what Duracell, a company that sells batteries, says to replace all of them if one dies?! Seriously? The best answer we can get here is from this surely unbiased source?

Small correction, while ABT sells largely online, they are (for those of us in the Chicago area) a WONDERFUL store, full of incredibly knowledgeable staff, helpful family owners who work the floor, great customer service, and the most amazing appliance+ store I've been in. When we bought a new house and needed all new appliances, 1 salesperson was able to walk me through every department, knew everything about every model, price matched everyone else and on top of that gave a package deal.
One time I had a rare, less than a great experience, and after sending an email, Ricky Abt (one of the owners) called up to apologize, sent me a check compensating for 25% of my purchase price (off a $400+ stand-up freezer!) and gave me his cell number with instructions to call whenever I needed appliance assistance. I would make the 30 minute trip out there any day before buying anywhere on line.

Agreed. Still not cool. I'm a product designer, and I don't know a single product designer with a phone in a holster, no matter how old.

Seriously?! People think having PVC in the general vicinity of a child will harm them? Really? It's not radioactive. Don't put it in your mouth. Much like many other things around the house and in the world.

Cheap and easy fix: Take a $3 rubber generic doormat, cut it into squares, put a square under each foot. Just started this a few months ago and the washer hasn't moved since.

I must say, as an Orthodox Jew and a designer, it is refreshing to see a site take the minute to acknowledge Holidays I observe, and even make a great app recommendation I didn't already know about. Thanks!

If you have a lot of the same kind of pieces (a few chairs, a set of drawers), do it assembly line style. Do the same step to each thing over and over, you'll find it goes much faster, u don't forget what goes where, and you remember the assembly better.

Bamboo, cheaper and more green than plastic?! The amount of processing needed to mass manufacture bamboo makes it ironically unsustainable. It is highly renewable, but industry has made it not quite sustainable at the end of the day.

@puck73
Have you ever had to deal with Photo proofs from a wedding? How files from design work? Family pictures from an event? Any video shot with an HD camera? Fact of the matter is, I deal with having to share file sizes like this every day. It's nice to know if my client is going to receive my email, of what I need to use to send it.

Just a slight correction about the whole Kosher thing, everything food related in a Kosher house is kosher, and with kosher, meat and dairy don't mix, even in the dishwasher. So more correctly, one dishwasher would be for meat dishes, the other for dairy. And yes, I keep kosher and would love the space for a second dishwasher. A bunch of my kosher friends have one as well.

Just an FYI, Wacom Cintiq's are not touch sensitive, they are only navigated by the pressure and tilt sensitive pen included. Touch sensitivity would imply they can be navigated with fingers.
And yes, they are awesome. Sketching on one of these is faster and easier than any writing implement, and looks amazing. I sit in front of a 21ux all day.

A nice tidbit I picked up from a professor in college, when I date stuff I do YYMMDD, this way when I sort by name, stuff will get sorted in chronological order by date as well, even across multiple years. If there's 2 files with the same name in one day (I'm a designer-revisions), the second gets a "b" at the end of the date, and so on. For instance "Budget091201" will come before "Budget100101", but if Month were first, I'd be out of order.

I too am a dropbox lover, but there is no doubt, a flash drive is faster for sharing where you don't have dropbox installed, and signed into your name. THough tI'm more of a fan of the Lacie imakey and such.

I have to disagree about the 2 mouse thing. I have a wicked kensington mouse that is super powerful and functional and a slim kensington travel mouse that sits in my computer bag. If I'm using a laptop for hours at home as a desktop replacement, I want a good mouse. It stays connected to my 7 port usb hub and all I need to do is plug in the hub and everything else is a go.
