I bought one of these when I moved to my Manhattan apartment with no kitchen storage. It looks pretty if all of your stuff matches and looks like these pictures. My pots and pans are all random hand-me-downs, that don't stack nicely and don't match. Its a big bad eyesore.

I'm impartial to whether or not you paint the cabinets, but I would recommend putting one bold color on the walls. If you go with something light or neutral, it will only emphasize all the other colors you don't want the eye to concentrate on.

And I haven't heard anyone disagree about that valance over the sink- get rid of it!

My brother used to do real estate appraisals, and he told me that you can't list a room as a "bedroom" if it doesn't have any closets. If that is the case with this room, how you stage it might not matter...

I like the idea of using it as an office. An office is a private space, so you won't be inviting guests to walk through your bedroom to get to a guest room/entertainment room/ etc. You might also consider dedicating it to a hobby (yoga space, artist studio, workshop, etc)

What To Do with \"Tacked-On\" Room? Good Questions

I live in a small Manhattan apartment. There is barely room for my own products in my bathroom, nevertheless additional products for guests. I do keep a bottle of body wash in a closet in case of visitors, since I am creeped out by the idea of sharing my bar soap. But if you need shampoo, conditioner, or toothpaste, you are going to be sharing mine.

I have a cabinet over the toilet, so that my stuff is out of sight. I don't understand the people who put up shelves, so that everything is out in the open.

I do keep a clock, since I tend to lose track of time while getting ready.

I never thought of the trash can lid until a friend pointed it out to me. I went out and bought a new one the very next day...

Since the bathroom is small, a bright shower curtain makes the plain, white bathroom feel warm. I have a bathmat, since I would otherwise break my neck on the marble floor.

And for those of you who want to restrict what people "do" in your bathroom, that's just crazy talk. While you should always be a polite guest, the whole purpose of the room is to allow people to answer when nature calls.

Don't get me wrong, its a really nice nursery, but it is not exactly original.I feel like I have seen the blue/gray stripped nursery pretty much everywhere.

Talk to your neighbor, tell them you are doing your best, and suggest that you go to the landlord together to ask that additional sound proofing be installed. While it is really their problem and not yours, they are still your neighbor, and in the long run, it is better to try to mend fences than cause further damage.

That being said, if they continue to be combative, then by all means start blocking their texts, and keeping records in case this becomes some sort of harassment suit.

I inherited 2 chairs from my grandparents, with almost identical frames. I ordered zippered cushion covers online, in a beige twill. I sometimes wish I had gone for something more bold.

I took the old fabric off before covering, but if you are questioning keeping the old fabric, you could probably zipper right over it, and then take the cover off if you want to go back.
