my question is how does it connect to a power source? In one picture I see a cord and the other I don't. Can it be wired directly and plugged in to an outlet?

highlighted on another blog, with relation to ad pages of Vogue vs. Elle in which Elle exceed Vogue for the first time ever, was the distinction between ad pages (in number) and ad revenue. which of these two (elle decor and arch digest) has the higher ad revenue?

i have been extremely broke but never really felt 'poor' per se, because I always felt my prospects would improve OR I'd made a conscious decision to sacrifice for a cause (school, children etc.) It was a lot easier than when I'd not been in control of the decision (getting laid off a couple of times). Not so sure that prospects will always improve given where the economy is at now, but I hope.

I was able to feed a family of three on about $50 per week by eating a mostly vegetarian diet, consuming no prepared foods and shopping at an inexpensive fruit and vegetable stand near my neighborhood that sells cast offs from grocery stores that aren't yet totally spoiled yet. (and ditto JulieLeanne's roasted chicken strategy - each one is good for three meals or maybe more if you make soup from the bones) I'd say we ate the best at those times, because we had time to prepare healthy food together and we always ate together or with friends.

yeah. its very monotone. It needs a color pop - maybe a couple of bright pillows. something.

this is beautiful. There are a couple of small victorian houses in the mississippi neighborhood in portland, oregon that have tins cans as siding on the lower part. It's really cool looking.

Its a great post despite the cost issues, because there are several more affordable resources and ideas that popped up in the discussion that I hadn't found despite researching this very topic only a few weeks ago.

ditto that bepsf - i'm stradding the fence now with a stainless range and a white fridge, waiting for the fridge to break because I never buy new until the old one is done for. I like the look of this Arctic Air thing!

habitat for humanity and other organizations have building salvage stores that will take and sell new and used building materials. They typically do not take carpet because it is used, but these are new, so maybe they would take them.

I agree with others that the lamp is too large for the table, although I think the tables are lovely. My suggestion is that you need to offset the smooth, shiny and cold feeling of the mirror table with something more rustic/natural or industrial looking in a smaller scale to create some contrast. Maybe something like burl wood or an antler lamp would be cool.

Never. my collection is very personal and contains some rare and valuable pieces. I agree with bepsf - if you don't have a relationship with your art, then time to sell and move on....

this place is darling. You can really tell when someone has a great eye - money can't buy this kind of design sensibility and sensitivity to placement. I love it.
