I don't have a steady hand at all, and I still do edges soooo much better without painters tape - I use one of those painter's edge things and wish I'd used it to begin with instead of going back and fixing all the mistakes I made the first time around. I think next time I will try an angled brush too. Is This Don't Actually a Do? Skipping the Painter's Tape |

I'm jealous of your hardwood floors and ceiling trim! What would I give for some details like that in my apartment....its wall to wall carpeting. Anyway. The biggest difference in my "blah beige room" was window treatment. I hung a curtain rail and got an awesome hand me down curtain from my mom which I kind of ended up designing the rest of the room around. I painted an accent wall (behind the bed) which I'll have to paint over again when I move out but oh well. I also agree with bedding you like - though if you go for the window treatment choose that first because you can change the bedding but the curtains will probably stay the same. love love love. Makes me miss Scotland so much. Beautiful home. I think the tub and bathroom is my favourite though - they don't make them like that here in the states! Kirsty and Pete’s Lovingly Restored Scottish Fishing Captain’s House House Tour |

Meh, I lived in the US equivalent of a 4th floor walk up my last year of student-dom in the UK. It is really not that awful. You do get used to it. And she's living in a small city apartment so its not like she's ever going to be lugging home huge quantities of groceries or anything. Also, advantage: Amazing views. My bedroom window directly faced Edinburgh Castle. I will never, ever forget waking up every morning to that view. Design Diary: Finding an NYC Apartment, From Boston |

I lived in several Victorian-Era apartments during my time at university, and I'm sure deaths happened in those. As long as I do not know the specifics, I'm not bothered. Would You Live in a Home that was the Scene of a Crime? |

Love these ideas, hate living in a rental which doesn't even have hardware on the doors. If anyone has a way to add hardware without destroying the doors, please let me know. At this point I'm even pondering the cost of changing the doors out. I hate them that much, and I'm living here for another year. My living/kitchen spaces are combined so I can never escape them. I love how warm the living area is, but then the bedroom doesn't seem to "flow" into it??...maybe its just me, but I think the bedroom could use some of the warmer colors which you incorporated into the rest of the space. Overall though I love it and am extremely jealous of all the architectural features you have to work with! Lowell's Former Factory Small Cool Contest |

I love love love this!! Don't know why I saw it so late. I think the subway tiles are my favourite, I have seen those on a few kitchens in AT and they are definitely going on my wish list for when I finally get to own a house/apartment. I cannot imagine having more than one cat and not cleaning their litterbox at least twice daily, especially if you live in a small space. One cat would probably be okay once daily, but I've never had only one so wouldn't know lol! I don't have a cat now because I am allergic, sadly. I miss my kitties who now live with my parents. Their house is much larger so I can deal with the allergies if I take medication. Tips for Living in a Small Space with Pets (aka: Don't Be the \"Smelly House Friend\") |

If you have a litter box in a small space get the kind which has a cover or figure out a way to aesthetically cover it...and clean it regularly PLEASE!! They stink so badly so quickly, and its unhealthy for a cat to have a dirty litter box. Tips for Living in a Small Space with Pets (aka: Don't Be the \"Smelly House Friend\") |

I love this :) - I could move in and be comfortable right away! I rent too, but I painted anyway...I'll just have to paint it back when I move out. Worth it because if there's one thing that makes me crazy its all white walls. Kacey's DIY Decor Small Cool Contest |

Like the above, I stocked up on local items I knew I'd miss. It was especially difficult when I left Africa, because I had such limited packing space. Now there are specialty African market wooden sculptures I really wish I'd found some way to lug across two continents and 1 ocean to bring with me.
