Thanks for the suggestions -- I'm so looking forward to my trip.

Thanks again for sharing the pictures of your house -- dreamy and beautiful.

And I'm so happy the wall is still there!

J --

I grew up in Texas with lot and lots of mosquitos -- my mother and I both used lavender oil on our pulse points (rec. from a magazine years ago), and it really, really does seem to work.

Good luck!

PS -- Is the wall painted with bricks and windows that runs along the levee still there?

My mother grew up in Farmerville and Monroe, and my father is from Ruston -- so amazing to see someone from Monroe here!

I'll be in N. LA in a few weeks -- do you have any good recs. for places to shop while I'm there? We usually stick with the antique stores in West Monroe, but I would love some new places.

The house is gorgeous -- I love the yellow table.

Cheers!

I had to share -- I hope you keep this just the way it is.

My mother is a librarian (and a stellar lady). She brought a smaller cabinet (no door or legs, 3 rows of 3 drawers) home when her middle school library went electronic -- the best part being that it was still filled with cards. In the house I grew up in (and the house my parents live in now), it was kept in the kitchen or breakfast room on a counter. We turned the cards backwards and used the backs to write recipes (and for random notes) and filed them in the drawers (alphabetically and by category, of course). I still get packages from my mom with sweet notes written on the back of the book cards.

Thank you, AT -- the Inmodern link just found me the pefect coffee table. : )

Pete -- have you tried Home Depot? If they don't have them in stock, they may be able to order them.

This really is such a sweet (no pun intended) space -- there was such an attention to detail int he design. I love the lightling, and have to say it looks great at all times of day, just like a big scoop of blood orange ice cream. Bonus points for the fact that every container and utensil is 100% recyclable.

Ici is the best.

I'm in for an East Bay group (I'm in Oakland).

Great idea!

Leah -- you're talking about Porch Light Antiques on Telegraph and 51st. Great store, but more for knick knacks than furniture.

I second the thought about Retro@Home's prices -- you can get much better deals by keeping an eye ut at places like Urban Ore or Thrift Town (there's also a great one in El Sobrabte).

Welcome to the East Bay!

I second the ceiling fan suggestion -- I installed one in my bedroom over the weekend and spent less than $50 for the whole thing. Totally worth it for air circulation (summer or winter).

Yay for Houston (I grew up there)!

I love this place -- might be my favorite so far. Great use of color and awesome mix of modern/antique pieces.

I have two of the same bookshelves in different rooms -- I'm moving them together this weekend -- great idea!

One more try -- can you PLEASE post this on the other city sites?

Hey AT:NY -- can you please post this on ALL city sites?

It seems like there are a lot of us that travel between these cities, which means a lot of potentially infested suitcases, etc. are being brought into our homes.

Good luck, everyone!

I second the love for the pillows on the sofa!

Where are they from?
