As soon as the weather turned warm, my bedroom, living room and kitchen were invaded by tiny little flies. I spent several days trapping more and more on fly paper until I figured out they were coming in through tiny cracks around my windows. (I live in an old house.) Clear, regular packing tape around the windows solved the problem. It was confirmed that the windows were the entry points for the flies because over the next few days I could see a few stuck to the tape. They tried to get in, but the taped had stopped them! I have to agree with the TEA TREE commenters. I moved into a rental with bad caulk in the shower stall, no fan, and moldy woodwork around the shower. Bleach just made my bathroom smell "bleachy" for a couple days, but the moldiness always came back. Here is the mix that finally worked to stop the mold! Spray bottle with 1 tsp. tea tree oil, drop of liquid soap and 12 oz of water. I also added some drops of essential oils I had laying around. I spray the whole stall after a shower and a little bit on the baseboards every now and then. IT IS MAGICKAL! No more mold. No more germs. No scrubbing. i registered for a re-nest account just to register my discomfort with the way this question was handled. if someone is picking through trash, they probably need money. and what is the purpose of a city having a budget if not to provide for its citizens? what is wrong with the citizens providing for themselves? it's not really stealing since it's "trash" anyway. good lord, posting this question in the worst recession since the depression is really, in my view, tasteless. makes me sad and doesn't really make me want to get behind green if this is what the priorities of the movement come down to.
