I don't particularly want a dishwasher (dishes don't take much time to wash and they can dry on a drainer) but I loathe with a passion going to the launderette. Having a washer / dryer is bliss: no lugging dirty clothes around; no waiting for a machine; no worrying about having the right change; no planning around when the launderette will be open.

Lovely.

And, Jennifer, so what? It's Stephanie's flat and she loves it and the poster and that's all that matters.

Wittersgarden, you could make a berry upside-down cake. It's just like the pineapple version, except you use frozen berries and walnuts and a bit of extra brown sugar and butter. I've done it with cranberries and pecans at Christmas and it always goes down a treat.

What a great column.

My comfort food is a big bowl of cheesy mashed potatoes. (Sometimes the cheese is parmesan; sometimes it's cheddar; sometimes it's a mixture of both, depending on what's in the refrigerator.)

Huh. I was drinking miso soup as I came across this post. Now that I've learnt how to make it thanks to AT, I will stop buying tiny packets at the supermarket. Dashi and white miso will be cupboard stapes from now on.
