eeeek just the thought of rinsing dishes with dirty water makes me squirm. I used to use a small bowl inside my sink filled with soapy water and let the dishes accumulate for awhile but I realized that a bowl of still water covering dirty plates with rancid foodbits, grease.. etc must harvest a lot of microorganisms so I stopped doing it that way.

I wet the dishes with hot water, turn off the water, scrub all of them with a sponge, set them aside and rinse them one by one under running water. Then airdry.

@ajdt-i've never had candied lotus roots before and im not sure if they have a separate name for it. Lotus root in Korean is Yeon-gun.

I wish my dorm would let in that much natural light
instead I have an overhead fluorescent lighting crowded with dead bugs
The hardwood floor, all the extra space...
You can't call this a dorm.

Can't live without it. It's so important when measuring ingredients like flour. A cup of flour can differ so much in weight depending how packed in it is.

@DoubleH Lol my mom also uses hers for pots and pans storage. True, asians don't bake much but my diet only includes less than half of asian food. I also love to bake, so if I was ovenless I would be heartbroken.
I could, however manage to get by. I guess what I cook or bake will just be limited.

I stayed over at my mom's for a week and tried to use her oven. When I preheated it at 400 to bake a cake, the apartment became a smoke chamber...
I had to use her toaster oven instead so I transferred my batter into a tiny muffin tray and settled for cupcakes.
I also made puff pastry. I couldn't find a cookie sheet small enough to fit so I made a one out of tin foil and cardboard.
It was tiring/time consuming to repeat piping/baking in small quantities but oh man... those cupcakes and puff pastries tasted soooo good!

If I dredge the chicken breast in bread crumbs and cook it using this mothod do you think it will get crispy? Whenever I pan fry it on the stove top it comes out dry...or not moist enough. What is the best way to cook chicken breast moist and crispy on the outside?

This is really smart and creative.

Only thing that makes me really really cringe is the privacy issue..
it brings back unfortunate memories of my parents when I was about five....we used to live in a studio too. ew.

But great place. wonderful job.

i've failed numerous times with choux... i love baking and i bake all the time but my luck isn't so great with these
Maybe i'm doing something wrong with mixing/cooking the flour after its dumped in because mine never looks like mashed potatoes...it forms more like a ball

I thought one of many points of putting stuff in the pantry was to keep them away from sunlight....

I agree with kelley too. I'm thinking you like to watch TV while you're on the machine so what if you get a panel or a room divider that can be pulled aside so that you can see the tv?
Definitely wider credenza for tv.. maybe a fun rug, a coffee table, colorful pillows. Take off those things above the TV and hang artworks/prints.. Don't be afraid of color and just have fun :) !

I read that a lot of house cleaning, maid service companies have a strict policy to not use water at all. Just a lot of chemicals but they hardly ever spray those chemicals directly on the surface to eliminate germs. They instead spray their sponges, rags etc which only serves to spread those germs from your toilet bowl onto your kitchen countertop. Their cleaning is more about making things look clean.
