I had a glow-in-the-dark wallpaper border of Chuck Taylor style high-top sneakers surrounded by confetti, in bright pink, turquoise, and yellow. The walls were painted an unfortunate shade of bubble gum pink to match. This was late 80's/ early 90's.

I worked at a vintage store in college and I remember a similar piece; you pushed down on the middle part and up popped a mini bar. It was awesome. Broke college me could not afford it. To this day, I wish I would have put in on the Visa, it would have been worth it. So, does anything interesting happen if you press down a bit on the middle piece?

Love your home! Scuba, this is wonderful. I'm a fellow "Phoenician," and I love it when people in Phoenix do MCM. Phoenix, after all, didn't boom until the post-war period, so we have an abundance of fun mid-century properties. Someday I hope to buy one myself. Much better than the beige and stucco McMansions that are the norm these days.

And Bison65, we are not all right wing crazies! Phoenix gets it's share of bad press, much of it probably deserved. The only way to change that is to act from within...if enough kind, sane people live here and make their presence known we will change Phoenix. We are getting more urban, arty, foodie, and LGBT friendly every day. I could just move away to a more "liberal" city like Portland or even Tucson and curse the good ol' boy Phoenix culture from afar, or I can stay and dilute the crazy. I'm staying.
