I have a problem with the idea that children should be paid to do things (chores, cooking, etc) that are part of normal family life. And why would we teach kids that these things -- dishes, cooking, helping parents -- are *jobs*, and not very normal household activities?

Quite frankly, I love the "fuck it" sign. I also wouldn't be friends with anyone who would legitimately be offended. It might actually work as a nice litmus test...

I live in Allston, but I'm 24 and a law student (i.e. I'm poor). The only reason I can tolerate it is because my building is all condos and I rent a unit. My neighbors are quiet, nice, and generally pleasant -- this is rare in Allston. The only undergrads are in the basement.

TKPKgirl -- there's living in 600 square feet (which isn't too tiny), and then there's living in a space so small that one needs a twin-sized murphy bed out of necessity.

Also, who lives in a studio and needs bunk beds???

-lives in 300 sq feet, sleeps in a normal bed

I live in a studio. It's 300 square feet. My bed faces the door, is in the corner, and is against a wall. I don't see why this might be taboo. In fact, it looks a lot like #3.

A neighbor down the hall started routinely knocking on my door asking to use the internet, borrow 5 bucks for laundry, etc. I consistently said no, which didn't dissuade him from asking. Since then, I've stopped answering my door unless I know the person.

I was born in this neighborhood!!! So cool! My parents lived in a little apartment like this when my dad's work brought them to Tokyo (he was a journalist).

LOVE. LOVE EVERYTHING. Love the bedroom, love the colors, love all of the stuff around the house, love the little details, love the absolute lack of the ever so typical "my house is as sterile and minimalist as the inside of a museum" thing, oh my goodness I want my apartment to look like this.

My studio apartment is 13 feet wide. While it isn't that big of a deal in the 12x13 "main room" (i.e. living room, dining room, study, bedroom, etc), the 6ftx6ft galley kitchen is pretty epically small.

@LauraInCancun: Just so you know, for those of us living in east coast cities, it is rare that a dwelling (i.e. house, apartment, etc) can be found with rent less than 800/month -- and that's cheap.

Has Petworth changed? I haven't been to the neighborhood in about 5 years, despite living in DC for a while. The last time I was there, it wasn't a destination for young couples. Thoughts? Someone clue me in?

Note to self: BFA programs in design will not teach proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, or humility.

Really, AT? The space is beautiful, but for a blog that seems so very concerned with the print content of its entries (evidenced by the gratuitous royal "we"), this was very poorly edited. It was cute when Claudia Kishi couldn't spell, but it's lost its charm.
