Funny, I just had a dream last night about eating at Chinese buffet with John Mayer and one of my friends. I don't even listen to John Mayer. But my friend was over-flirting with him and taking forkfuls of my lo mein, so I was getting annoyed with her.

Strangest part of the food: The buffet had slices of roasted corn in a sauce. Never seen that a buffet!

I mostly dream about buffets for some reason.

FYI, the Butler brothers are originally from Houston, so the suburbs they're evoking are the Houston suburbs (specifically the Woodlands). They are the least California band I know of. Plus, they live in Canada. But interpretations are subjective, I suppose!

Thick cut fries with creamy chipotle sauce. Deli meats on soft french bread with tons of mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Sliced American cheese, straight up. Steamed white rice with Vietnamese charcoal beef or bulgogi.

I'm a simple gal with a taste for the savory!

I understand futon-hatin', but it's working for me right now. I'm in a 1br apt, and it comes in handy for guests, insomnia episodes, and afternoon naps. I absolutely love the cream-colored natural cotton cover I got for it that can be washed when it starts to get dingy. That kind of quality fabric costs a lot for a real sofa. I got one of those metal "retro" style ones, rather than a clunky wood model, so it's not such an eyesore.

BUT... I do agree it is not the most grown-up look. I'm saving up for a sparkly new sofa when we eventually move into a 2br so I can put the futon in the guest room. Then it will be blisssss...

About dish sponges...is it not normal to use a dish sponge for about a month? If I think it might be a little icky, I run it under hot water and squeeze detergent through it a few times.

I used to be kind of a germaphobe regarding food, and I think it made me susceptible to food poisoning (I've had two VERY bad cases in my life). Now I try to be a little less neurotic, and it seems to have helped.

If we're trying to prevent the spread of disease within the home, I would say not sharing hand/face towels is a good idea. And you can't go wrong with regular washing of the hands with normal soap. But beyond that, this post seems a little extreme.

And, really, you can't deny the importance of good sleep, healthy eating, and laughing a lot to your health. That doesn't require any cleaning!

Why not?? It's fun. It looks like the person put a lot of time and thought into these zen-scapes, too. They may not be particularly useful, but I think they're neat.

As someone who likes bold, slightly unnatural colors, this place excites me. I live in a cookie 1-bdr apt, so when I go bold with color, things don't look all that dramatic ever! I love the pink bathroom! I love your house way better than the white walls/wood floors/restrained aesthetic seen on this site often. Color is the spice of life! (I know, it's "variety," but I made up my own quote...)

Yeah, the fungal-ness of it all is kind of making my stomach turn a bit.

Robino32 - I think people were expecting someone to be smug about not having a TV in the kitchen, so they just assumed you were being serious. Sarcasm is hard to pick up on when you can't hear the voice!

The first one looks like it was photoshopped into the scene. Something doesn't look quite right (besides the curtain itself!).
