I'd imagine you *could* put it in plastic, but stale popcorn isn't all that great.

The thought of buying a smaller turkey seems quite silly. Most grocery stores do loss leader pricing on the turkey to the point that upgrading from a 14 to a 20 pound bird costs less than five dollars.

Looks like so far it's unanimous; If someone invited me to their dinner party and then asked for ten bucks, they would receive from me a raised eyebrow and a polite declination in return. Charging guests turns it from a dinner party into a restaurant.

I'm a convert to the wonderfulness of Irish steel-cut oats, but they do take a long time to cook. Thankfully, they hold very well in the fridge. I make a big batch over the weekend, and have four breakfasts' worth of oatmeal ready and waiting for a zap in the microwave.

Another reason not to get non-stick is that it's hard to tell how well the fond (the lovely bits that get stuck to the pan that get turned into gravy or pan sauce later) is coming along. For the same reason, the dark-finished Calphalon anodized pan is not worth considering.
