The miso ice cream I had at Public in NYC was pretty good, but my favorite is the peanut butter curry ice cream from Humphry Slocombe in SF.

I made this last night using pears and cardamom (instead of apples and cinnamon). It was to die for! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe.

I have honed Carrara marble countertops and miniature white subway tiles in a running bond layout. Used gray grout and gray caulk so that the tiled backsplash wouldn't look like a continuous sea of white.

Good Questions

Hi, original poster here. I appreciate all the comments.

Yes, the door and window trim are white. My cabinets do have a yellowish undertone to them. Painting the cabinets are not an option. Thanks for compliments on the farmhouse sink . I absolutely love that sink.

After making the mock-ups and sending my question to AT, I went to the paint store and bought samples of the colors. I haven't tried the gray sample yet so I can't really say too much about that one. The second color turned out to be much more purple than dark gray. I did 2 coats on a 2'x2' board and placed it in my kitchen to see the color during different times of day. It's like a very dark eggplant color and sometimes it looks almost black. It's a gorgeous color, but I'm not sure if I want to go with such a dark color. But it's definitely not boring.

I do think a warmer shade of gray would work well with the white trim, marble and the yellowish off white cabinets. Maybe I am misunderstanding the term "warm (a little brownish tint)" but the warm grays I've seen so far are too taupe-y.

I totally agree that colors are hard to convey correctly when viewed on a computer monitor. But I just wanted to get a general sense of what people thought about those 2 colors and to gather some more information so that I can make a better decision. And, heck, voting for paint colors on AT is always fun.

Thanks for all the feedback. I knew the AT readers wouldn't hesistate to offer advice. Keep it coming!

My parents' building in SF has working levers in each of the flats. Their tenants love using it to open the front door for guests.

You did an amazing job. I love that you did the backsplash tiles vertically instead of horizontally.
