I second the Safari autofill question. It's how I've been entering for the contests thus far, and was wondering if it'd be a problem. Would love an answer!

Space is a big issue. Any more than a couple of guests in my studio gets uncomfortable. I'd really love to have a little dinner party but usually limit it to one on one hangout time or a couple people over to watch a show or movie.

Then I remember my college days and the big parties thrown in our huge, multi-roommate apartment. Those were fun but I don't miss the place getting trashed. I view my apartment now as more of a refuge from everything.

If you like the eye candy in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, check out Jacques Demy's other classic, The Young Girls of Rochefort. I could happily exist in most 1960's campy French interiors.

I aspire to have this problem. I can't keep a bottle of wine in my place longer than a couple of days.

Keep about 6 mos worth of paystubs (especially if you don't make the same amount monthly) for potential unemployment filing as well.

I usually just tear stuff up and toss it after paying, or stuff it in a cupboard. Really should come up with some sort of filing system.

This looks like something out of a horror movie. If I were you I'd be out on the sidewalk, rocking back & forth and crying, unwilling to return to the house. Ewwwwwwww.

Oh good! I attempted the last spring cure after I'd just moved into a new place. Now I've lived here long enough that there is clutter and messes lurking... time to tackle them.

Had no clue this was a European thing either. I've been using the duvet only for a long time. Don't have to buy the top sheet, makes the bed-making easier, and my feet are free. I don't mind the regular washing, I have as many covers as I do sheet sets (though not fancy $200 ones!). In the summer though I do switch to a light quilt and top sheet. Just switched back to the duvet yesterday and forgot how indulgent it feels.

Oh man, flashback to K thru 12! I too enjoyed covering my textbooks. The brown paper bags were mandatory for all hardcover school books and were the greatest blank canvases.

really enjoyed this, thanks erin!

i'm so envious of people who can put their spaces together in such a short period of time. i've been in my apartment about 4 months as well and it looks nowhere near as fantastic as this.

My favorite room is the nursery. It looks so relaxed and cozy and I love the contrasting cribs side by side.

The rest does seem to err on the boutique hotel side but I certainly wouldn't mind being a guest!

I have one in my kitchen. Just hung a framed picture over it, then a couple of smaller pictures to the left of it to make everything look centered. You can't tell it's there and the picture is easy to remove if needed.

Not really having a single square foot to spare, I just made sure to invest in a nice covered box that is round so it takes up less space in my tiny bathroom. I also clean it at least 2x daily, and use a good litter that helps w/ any smell and hardly tracks at all. As far as hiding it, if I ever want to have more than a couple of people over I'd set it in the tub for the night. Not the ideal solution but it works.

Also essential...the Bissell pet hair eraser. Without that thing, living in a 260 sq ft space w/ 2 shedding beasts would be impossible. Living in a small space with pets can get pretty gross if you don't make an effort to clean up after them religiously.

I think really, it's cats or nice furniture. To each their own on what they prefer. But my little monsters aren't moving out any time soon so though it may not be the best couch ever, my ikea sofa can get a new cover whenever it starts looking too dingy and scratched up. I also keep a cardboard scratcher w/ catnip next to the couch. I replace it every month or two. They love the thing and can shred it up to their hearts' content.

I've found that any leather or vinyl furniture is just asking for trouble. They LOVE the way it feels to tear into it. I had a great mid century chair in an awesome teal vinyl that they absolutely destroyed.

I actually think that tweedy and nubby fabrics hold up better than others, as they can take a few stabs here & there and not really show it.

Loved it in Small Cool, love it even more now. This is truly a place I'd like to hang out in. Matt, you're making me contemplate a move to Queens to get about 100 more sq ft than I've got in Brooklyn.

How does that tv have no cords? I must know!

This is MCM done in a really inviting, approachable way. I like it a lot.

I've looked through this hour tour 4 or 5 times now. I just love it so much. Every room feels inviting. Vintage done without being overly kitsch or obsessively MCM. Clean but not minimal, and never cluttered. Gahh, just love!

Since all of the spaces with character and charm were eliminated, I don't get it. The Brooklyn place is inside of one of the newly erected soulless stainless steel buildings popping up all over Williamsburg, which makes me automatically dislike it. Those buildings are the Ikea of architecture. The other space has some interesting aspects but overall feels like it was put together for a catalog.

Also, why are there categories for different sized apartments when ultimately there is only one winner? There should be a winner in each category. Someone in a 250 sq ft place is going to face different challenges than someone in a 1000 sq ft place.

Brian, I love your place! I've got about 30 less sq ft than you in our tiny giant city and am just amazed at what you've managed to do! Definitely have my vote. Wish I could hire you to come and fix up my studio!
