I've found a trick for when you're going OUT to dinner - reservations! Those are strict and often too much hassle to re-schedule. If we're to be there at 6pm, then we'd better be there at 6pm! Guess you could position an at-home dinner party the same way. 3 Tips to Help Your Dinner Guests Show Up On Time |

This is magnificent :) I think the same way! The sound of the fridge as it closes softly behind me. The increasing bubble of water as it boils in the pot, waiting to accept the pasta. The sound, and resulting excitement, that comes with the ding of the timer, as dinner shall soon be served. Cooks, and eaters alike should rejoice in this sense - it means so much to the food :) Kitchen Sounds: The Orchestra of Cooking & Eating |

You can remedy this by making a few staple dishes, and then opening it up to others pot-luck style! This lets your friends show off their own cooking skills, takes the pressure off of the hosts to make ALL the food, and if someone doesn't want to cook, they can bring a bottle of wine/6-pack of craft beer, or some liquor/mixers! This is how my friends and I operate, and it never fails :) The Un-Dinner Dinner Party: How Much Food Should You Prepare? |

I LOVE hosting casual dinner parties! Though I do like having at least one element that all get to help create - be that dessert, or the appetizer. Black bean dip & homemade tortilla chips are my go-to app. And dessert ranges from ice cream, to pie, to crumble! I definitely did this as a kid, and still do it every spring and fall!! It's great for all of these benefits, and usually results in one additional one: shopping!! All my shorts don't fit? Flip flops are falling apart? Dresses are out of style? Time to hit up the mall :) Unexpected Benefits of Packing Away Clothes Seasonally |

This is absolutely brilliant. I'll have to start doing this! I refuse to eat most mainstream store-bought pizzas, because of all the chemicals in them. But homemade is A-Ok with me! Thanks for this post :) How to Make Frozen Pizzas at Home Cooking Lessons from The Kitchn |

Well it *does* say up to a week. And really, that's not so much mayo that would last longer than a week, is it? Just make sure your family eats it up for lunches, and you'll be fine! :) Lunch Recipe: Tuna Melts with Olive Oil Mayonnaise & Parmesan Recipes from The Kitchn |

Never follow the rules! They're more like guidelines, anyway. I love recipes, and often use them. However, it's incredibly rare for me to actually follow it completely. Whether it's substitutions for health reasons, because I don't have an ingredient, or just to try something new, And it doesn't matter if it's baking or cooking! As long as you know the base "rules" - you can go from there! The kitchen is for experimentation and creativity. At least for me it is. Do You Follow the Rules When You Cook? |
