Like those of a few post-ers above, my rent check also goes to a big corporation. They are definitely not getting a thank-you note! But the supers and various other sometimes-employed-by-the-super people who live in my building and help make it "our building" where we have our homes are definitely appreciated. I love apartmenttherapy; doing the 8-Week Cure this fall has sent me into absolute addiction. But -- just since we're on the topic of criticisms and improvement -- can I PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, gently, in the nicest possible way, BEG y'all to school your writers on the difference between "it's" and "its"?? Using "it's" as a possessive is such a consistent, daily mistake I would pause, amazed, if I ever saw "its" used correctly on this site. This shoes vs. no-shoes discussion was amazing! So many vehement opinions. It seems to me, though, that the divide is more about what type of home / lifestyle folks have, and what kind of entertaining they do there. No-shoes rules seem to fit comfortably for folks with home-and-family oriented places who have gatherings of close friends, neighbors, family, etc. Their guests would likely have no trouble understanding or following such a rule. On the other hand, people who host lots of dressed-up, formal events would never dream of asking the guests to remove their shoes (and would never have floors that could be damaged by shoes). It seems like problems arise when a type of party doesn't match the home where it's held, or the guests it's planned for. I think hosts have the responsibility to be flexible and to make their rules match the parties they're hosting. If your rules don't match the event, perhaps your own home may not be the best location for the party in question. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles \| What Are Your House Rules?
