Seems like a lot of work went into this. Too bad the warmth got lost in the process.

Ikea has shoe cabinets that you can mount to the wall. I saw someone who used them as laundry storage - this could be good for the empty space on your closet wall. Then you may be able to move one of the chests out (I'd say the purple/gray one - as it doesn't seem to hold anything pertinent to the bedroom).

It looks like there isn't a lot of room on either side of your bed, so you may think about decluttering either side or pushing the bed up against the wall.

I use my Ikea Expedit for this. Each square is small enough that the scale is right, and allows for display that's not completely in your face. I color coordinate them with books and other knick knacks, Trexis, etc.

Yikes! Spend $50 on paint instead. Same effect.

From the picture it looks like the door to the room is the point from where the picture is taken, so I'd say you could paint the wall with the window. That way people will be immediately drawn to it instead of the closet doors. If that's not the case, paint the largest wall without the closet doors (looks rectangular, so that would be the wall your bed is on). You could also paint the whole thing and then paint the closet doors a shade lighter or darker than your chosen hue.
