I'm already in the process of making a deep red and sky blue room for my 2 y/o. It is nice to see a finished room in those colors. Reassuring!

My entry way has needed a makeover for as long as I've had an entryway. This would be the perfect motivation to pretty it up and the forefront of a sorely needed landing strip!

The house and setting is lovely. That is what made me click over to look at more pictures.

What struck me about the main living space is that it looks quite temporary to me. Like you are just using this furniture until your real furniture arrives. Or as though it is a sun porch where you do your living in the summertime, while your real living room is inside somewhere.

I don't think that the clash of styles is an issue, necessarily. I think it is probably just a matter of having your furniture floating around on a sea of concrete (the floor is gorgeous, by the way).

I think you are in desperate need of a rug.

Jumping on the bandwagon. Keep the walls! Consider painting the ceiling, trim, and vanity white. Loved the early suggestion to add some other natural elements. Stone floors and shower walls sound spot on.

Your yellow is lovely. I can see why you chose it.

I'm afraid I have to agree that something does not seem to be working with these colors. I think that the color of the fireplace might really be nice with the yellow walls, as other commenters have suggested, but the whiteness of the mantel emphasizes the not whiteness of the fireplace. I think I'd try swapping out the mantel for a dark wood that would echo your floor and furniture. I'd go with something bigger and more dramatic than your current choice to balance out the chunkiness of the stone and keep it visually separate from your crisp white trim.

I don't know how they fit two bedrooms in 900 sq ft. Plenty of room for extra roommates when life required it. On the plaza in old town Eureka. Didn't need a Christmas tree because they lit up the redwood outside our window. Bars, art galleries, street fairs, the bay, whatever we wanted was right outside.

Looks like aqua would be a good fit in your neighborhood. I'd go aqua on the carport and columns too. The brick already breaks up that part of your facade. I think another color might be too much. If you decide to go this way, I'd love to see an orange door. It would complement the aqua beautifully and add a little contemporary touch.

Love it, and I'm not generally a fan of too much symmetry in my spaces. It works because of the contrast between matching frames and contrasting reflections. A nice trick.

I rather like them actually. The mirrors are maybe a bit much. I think I'd etch them or find privacy cling to tone down the reflectiveness and keep them in keeping with the rest of the room.

I'm with KatSD. I think the placement of the keep calm poster is hilarious. I'm inclined to think that this might be a sort of commentary on the poster itself. Perhaps Will's feelings about the ubiquitous "keep calm" poster are more in line with the people who've commented here than they realized. . . . .

Like jick, I use salt to clean my cast iron, but I also find that it works great on any pot I've scorched. Works with much less elbow grease than a scouring pad requires and leaves no scratches.
