Great ideas all--I've never put garlic in risotto, altho roasted garlic sounds interesting. There's a NYTimes recipe for a Pope's spring risotto that involves adding a pesto-like mixture of greens at the end. It's all good. And I wanted to try a farro pesto, a la Mark Bittman's suggestion. I've often said I was raised by wolves, because no chores were expected of me and it's taken me an embarassingly long time to catch up!
