recycling is required in NYC as well. my parents have received tickets for throwing recycling in the trash on behalf of a tenant who couldn't read the rules in their townhouse.

This is a great idea, except for those of us that don't have plumbing in our office. I'd more than happily drink tap water like I do at home. However, to do that I'd have to fill up my water bottle in the ladies bathroom where it doesn't fit under the tap....

The Green Cat has a good point - don't need irrigation when its raining, unless its not raining very much, in which case this could help. But a 1" rainstorm is a huge rain event - something like that only happens a couple times a year in most places in the country, so if you needed 1,000 gallons on a regular basis, don't count on this to solve your problem.

our cats don't seem to be too fond of grooming unfortunately which makes it hard to brush them on a regular basis when they keep running away. but the item we've found is best for cleaning hair off the carpet and furniture is the grooming brush - it is amazing, though, i'm willing to pick up the pet hair magnet and give that a try as well.

I see it as aiming towards people who use buses for commuting, not necessarily to get to IKEA to pick up furniture. That said, in NYC, plenty of people take advantage of IKEA's free bus service on the weekends. I've done it. Its a pain, but it can beat renting a car if you're not pickup up a sofa.

there was a story about them a few weeks ago on npr about how they're using them in chicago on the beaches, which has the added bonus of keeping seagulls away from the beach.

i agree with a nony mous, its not a place to shop for everything. but its great for some things. like cereal (love their mini wheats, and half the price of another grocery store), good diary, juices, packaged lunches and frozen foods. and the produce is ok, but sometimes you want just one artichoke, not 4....overall, i'm ecstatic about it. i belong to the coop, but the lines are just as bad as trader joes and for me, their best feature is the produce. if i can get my produce at the coop and everything else at tj's (and pay using a credit card at that), i'll be a happy camper.
