The price tag of their DIY may be out of people's budgets, but I think what this project does, at least for me, is provide inspiration. For us creatives, likely many on this website are (creative, or interested in home decor projects) something like this is inspiring. So I think people have to get past the price tag for the bench above, and realize that this project is something you may remember when you see a coffee table that is the right dimensions for an ottoman/bench at a flea market or on the curb. I doubt that 90% of the people that said they loved the mural in their reply, would have kept it if it were their home when push came to shove. Late night out, not feeling well the next morning - I dont think that mural would do anything to keep me calm. shudder Really people. And there is a reason why it looks like a Restoration Hardware catalog .... it's gorgeous and pretty darn functional. I'm super surprised that this makeover has gotten some of the comments that it has. I would LOVE to have this bathroom! Having tried both the newspaper the squeegee method (as PhoebeArt suggested) I highly, highly recommend the squeegee method. The newspaper route works on appearance, but it take a lot of time vs. the other route. I heart my squeegee sponge that I can add on to an extention rod (Home Depot) and that way I can do my outside windows easily. It's great fun to see variations on the project! Thank you MissDee for linking to my post (PennyPeople), I'm Lindsay. The project above was inspired by Erics post (as someone pointed out) and as Eric notes in his description he was inspired by my project (thank you Eric!). What has unfortunately been missed in translation from my original post in September 2008 to now is that the original inspiration and concept was from Style at Home Magazine. I simply adore painting certain rooms white - I think it makes other colours in your room be much more dramatic. I recently painted a spare room white, with the old wood floors white as well, and it got some hilarious comments from my Father and Husband... My Father said.."It feels like I'm in that final sequence in 2001 space odyssey." (An all white room scene) And my husband calls the room the "heavenly room" as it reminds him of in movies when it's a "heaven" scene and it all goes white. I LOVE all white rooms, but I personally think colour needs to be added in art accessories. if anyone ever sees that Crystal Block Lamp from Williams Sonoma Home (Rectangular base) anywhere for a reasonable price (sorry, $475 is way too much when you need to buy 2 of them!) can you let me know? I've been on overstock.com and I just can't find something like this for a reasonable price. Gah. Someone out there must know where to find these simple beautiful lamp. PUH-LEASE. I remember the shopping trip to Ikea when I was 8, to find my super-dooper bunk beds (white metal was so in back then) and they dropped off my brother and sister in the play land. It's been there for as long as I can remember. Whenever I go to Ikea, the play land is never too busy and always is well managed. As a kid, it was awesome! I was at a carpet store last week and was looking at a jute rug and the saleswoman said that I'd have "Issues" if I spilled something on it. My indication was that it wasn't an awesome choice if you're going for a lighter colour. Wish I had more info, sorry.
