OK, I realize I'm not helping but I find the DWR version absolutely brilliant:

I have a flou bed (the notturno). It's pricey (my first bit of high end furniture), but really well built and gorgeous… Lots of options in terms of fabric and flou has a lot of beds with storage. The Notturno's nice because it's barely any bigger than a queen size mattress.

Nice place! :)

One question, I know I've seen that coffee table before, but I can't remember what it is now, can anyone enlighten me?

I like this idea: a tub in the bedroom and a small shower in the bathroom… :) Soak in the bedroom, quick shower before work in the bathroom, that sounds fantastic and it seems to me like it would justify a bigger bedroom and smaller bathroom. :)

These are cool too, a friend of mine makes them:

I like the look of the new house but I do also wish they'd kept a bit of the old one too. Many some moldings in the ceiling (imagining there were some) and such, it could have made for a fun contrast in the house a bit of old and a bit of modern. That having been said, it must interesting to walk through that facade to find that house behind it.

Out of curiosity, how much does a remodel like that cost?

One problem I have with high back benches like the one in the photo is that some of them (I don't know about this specific one) are very very straight up and not all that comfortable to sit in. :( That having been said they definitely make for a dramatic look. :)

Anyone knows what that rug is on the 3rd photo or where to find a similar one? :)

Personally I have been eyeing the Lumeo from Ligne Roset, it's very customizable however it's not exactly "cheap". ;)

I could be wrong, but I don't believe there is a Merseille in France, it probably should be Marseille. ;)

Lovely conversion and amazing photography! :)

I'd highly recommend stopping by your local wine shop. Thing to know though, most (not all, obviously) wood crates come from the Bordeaux region in France. Wood crates are fairly rare in other parts so not all wine stores will have them. Also, wine clubs are a good source, just call them up or stop by and ask. They might even be able to save some for you if you can wait a bit.

I did this for a little project at some point and K&L in San Francisco very nicely saved me 6-8 crates in really good shape. I also got some from a wine club on Harrison street. I walked by and there was a stack outside, I asked if I could take them and they said it was no problem that they were just throwing them away. :))

Happy crate hunting!

I like the recessed storage under the mirror, that's a very nice touch.
