This inspires me, but it's also good to hear words of caution when it comes to work and cost. Sometimes I'd rather just have the cheaper furniture and live with it than something "fabulous" that ends up being a project I never actually invest in. I should really learn how to upholster. Craigslist your stuff. If you really do want to live in another neighborhood, you have to unload some things. Be ruthless. Think of the money you'll save not forking out for storage as a down payment on a larger place (and things to sit on in that place).
