I'm wondering about over-sealing a house and restricting or eliminating a home's ability to breathe and release toxins.

I do appreciate this post, though, and am excited to explore the hybrid water heater you mentioned as an option for our older home and very old heater.

About creating an airtight crawl space, I'm not sure that makes sense, or perhaps I misunderstood what was meant by sealing. But I'll read up on that and learn more.

Pantone is kind of grasping at straws with radiant orchid. It's pretty but largely impractical as a design focus. It has too much red and feels confused and restless. But in small doses it can feel nice and not so "Color of the Year" trendy. The quilt is a good example. It's fun and special.

I'm yet another commenter commenting on the gorgeous green rug. And what a unique wood stove.

If you're doing the move or packing yourself, start checking the free section on Craigslist a month or two before your move. I did this every day for several days and scored tons of very clean Home Depot moving boxes and packing paper.

I have to ask, where did you get your gorgeous sailor pants, or did you make them yourself? They are lovely!

And what a beautiful workspace. I love the wall color and the fresh design.

It is not healthy sleeping directly on the floor. You need good air circulation under the bed. Fungus, mold and bed bugs are all serious concerns. A simple slatted platform just a few inches off the ground is all you need.

If the bed is on a natural rug like jute, you can increase the problem of bed bugs. Children in Japan have a very common skin condition from sleeping on futons, especially when they're on tatami mats.

In the 70s I collected stuffed Snoopy dogs and the outfits. I also had a plastic Snoopy tent. The phone is dreamy. Does it work?

Finally a home for grownups. Sometimes I feel like the mid century threw up all over these homes and has drowned them in trends. This one is just lovely. So relaxed and comfy and not at all forced.

One of my favorites by far.

I can't at all tell how this feels in the space, and the small metal desk without any accessories or art on the walls or even a chair feels almost childlike and small. It's a nice idea, but it just doesn't look relaxing.

It would be helpful if Apartment Therapy would stop featuring so many tight shots, and also require a space to be fully ready to go before posting them here. Thanks!

My father-in-law has an impressive collection of original, signed prints by a respected photographer. We were very worried that his recent acquisition was intended as a wedding gift for us. It would have been a huge and very awkward imposition had he given it to us.

Gift certificates tucked inside a handmade card is about as far as I'd go when it comes to giving art as a gift.

I have a stack of old towels that I use for hand-drying my clothes. Lay them flat on the towel, roll tightly, and then knead the towel with your hands or knees. It's really amazing how much water it removes. Sun dry and even jeans will be ready by the end of the day.

The Expedit bookcase has so many great uses. What a nice collection of photos. But I'm such a big advocate of removing anything made from plastics and particleboard from our breathing space in our home, that I just can't get behind stores like Ikea.

These photos give me some great ideas, though, so thanks for this fun post!
