This brings back memories... My DH and I bought a Victorian Mantle years ago - in terrible condition - and fixed it all up and painted it a creamy white to go with our trim. It was so fun to move our "fireplace" wherever we wanted - it was even a headboard once. After awhile we sold it for some new project... about six years passes and our house burns down.

We moved to a rental in the same town to wait for permits, etc. for our rebuild. A neighbor had dropped off some wonderful bread, and when we got home we crossed the street to thank her. She answered the door and I thought "I know you..." she invited us in and asked us to follow her to her den. There center stage was our beautiful mantle exactly the same! She was the lady we'd sold it too! We had no idea where she lived and we ended up being neighbors. She says she gotten so many complements on the mantle and they designed their new den around it! Of course DH says: I want it back! ;-)

A wonderful, "homey" and well loved house with alot of love of each other - shows.

If you have time... (ha - sure) can you tell me how life is with a "wet room"? I'm thinking of putting one in to save space. Our house burned down in late October so we're starting from scratch. Our architect is pushing for the "wet room" but it looks like it could get cold, and really, really wet.

I'm sure your yards will be as great as your house. You've got the "eye".

Thank you,
Vicki

I'm so glad to have found these comments. Our house burned down 2 mos. ago and we're renting a house while we rebuild. Both showers have these useless screens. I'll admit they look good but if you're into cleaning your body, you'll be cleaning the floor right after. They let all the cosy warm steam out and let any breeze in. I def won't have these in our re-built house no matter how cool they appear. They're too cool. Cold.
