This is my dream house!!! You have done such an AMAZING job. The combination of neutrals and pops of colour makes your home so warm and happy! I can only hope that my future home will look as good as yours. Congrats on such a wonderful design and thanks for sharing with us! :)

I like the window box idea around the top of the fence if it is permitted. It would add height, colour, and interest to your yard while blocking their view of you making dinner.

This is a very good idea! I'm the type of person who loves changing decor and versatility for a product.

I also wonder what the legs look like under that skirt. Removing the skirt could add even more interest to the piece and change the whole look of it. Something to consider!

It could be a good buy, with a proper cleaning and some bright pillows to liven up the darker material. It's a good size and has interesting curves. Make sure to watch for smells in the fabric upon seeing it in person. Hope it works out for you!

Is there a dining room area in this apartment? If there is a designated space for a dining room, it may be the perfect spot to partition off a second bedroom. Screens or bookcases (such as the expediat) would provide privacy and storage (bookshelves in this case). A dining area would also generally have a hanging light for over the bed already there. Good luck on whatever design you choose! :)

You could leave the tv where it is in the pictures (I like the big media centre that is there because it fills the space). A sofa could float in the middle of the room - kind of centred with that little wall between the patio door and the window so that access to the door is not blocked. On the back wall where the couch is in the pictures, you could create an office space with a simple desk and a comfy chair in the corner that could be pulled out into the entertaining area when guests come over. I'm sure whatever you decide will look great :) It's a very bright and cheery space! Good luck!!

Love this space. It is as others have put it, gold in all the right places!

On a side note: I agree with Abby Stender, I LOVE that necklace!!

A stencilled wall could add interest without painting the entire wall. You could use a bright colour that works with the rug or even use a more subtle colour such as a light grey or a brown as the stencil colour. That way he gets his "accent" wall and you get your rug without both overpowering the space. Good luck with your space! I'm sure it will turn out great no matter what you decide :)

Definitely dishes and laundry. Laundry is usually a pain because we live in an apartment and the facilities are in the basement. In unit laundry would completely change my perspective and I think I'd enjoy doing it. However, the trek up and down the stairs with a full basket/soap and keeping track of a timer so that you don't take the machines from others for longer than necessary gets tedious.

I'd have to agree with jimi_adams. New phones offer anything that you could need (and even not need) on a mobile device. Although this is convenient, I often find myself too distracted by my phone because, well...it does everything for me. When I see someone with a simpler phone that provides the basic functions that they need (i.e. call and text), it feels uncomplicated and more freeing. I definitely do not judge a person based on their phone choice, if anything, I like the variety.

Looks great and would love to have this staircase in my home. I don't understand why people have to pick out only negatives to a project, that so much hard work went into. The owners are clearly happy with the outcome and it suits their style. If you don't like it, or don't agree to the point of bashing their reno....then move along to another post that does interest you.
Congrats on a job well done to the homeowners :)

You could paint it the teal colour that is in the piece of art on the wall (and within the colours in the upstairs bedroom). Framing that window may give it a more finished look and adding a soft curtain that is fitted to the window could soften the space (I assume you wouldn't be closing them, so this would be more of an aesthetic thing).

Reader Poll: What Should I Do With This Stairwell?

Multi-purpose furniture would be most beneficial in this space. There isn't a ton of room for both a bed and couch comfortably...could you change to a daybed? This way you can set up your living space like a living room and bedroom at the same time. End tables on each side of the bed/couch, a coffee table that has inner storage, TV across from couch/bed, and this way you could even include a rocking chair, book shelves, etc. I would put the dining table beside the fridge where that little round table is or where the short cabinet is in the floor plan. Hope this helps, it is a charming, bright space.
