I think the rods are fine where they are.... if you feel like you need to move them I agree with articangels placement suggestion: inside the woodwork.

I agree, JamieO2.... I can't get on board with the high and wide because of that effect.
I am also a rebel and don't like floor length curtains because when the sun is shining behind them don't look right, with half washed out and half not. I like my curtains to 1) close and 2) cover just the window only.
I realize I'll never win any design awards with those preferences, though, as they are anathema to what everyone else seems to like these days.

I don't wash my sweaters every time I wear them, since I always have a shirt on under them. After wearing, I'll hang them on a hook or valet bar overnight to air out and then I do put them away, but turned inside out...so the next time I pull it out I know it's been worn. After the second wearing it gets laundered.
