I hate everything and would happily pay to have someone else do it for me if I had the money. I used to live in South Africa where it is very common to have a cleaner and come home to a spotless wonderfully clean smelling house with everything taken care of. The hardest thing for me was moving to a country where this isn't the case and I found it completely overwhelming!

Mostly, I hate cleaning the shower and I also do not like doing toilets. My husband dislikes housework equally but in order that we don't live in a tip we have to do it. Also my allergies are better managed in a clean environment so I am currently trying 30 days of 20min cleaning. I think it's pretty good, most days, I get some jobs done even if it doesn't follow sequentially. I am not good at cleaning. It really perplexes me and I know for some it's hard to imagine how someone can not be good at it but I really am not.

What Household Tasks Do You Most Love and Hate?

I do love this list, I am only on Day one but i am trying to keep it all manageable because there is nothing worse than coming home to a place that you look at and it exhausts you.

I think the objective of this list is more for apartments and not for giant houses and if you do live in a giant house with 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a swimming pool, a games room, a study and all the other normal rooms in your house, then I am afraid you will have to do more. Since this website is called Apartment Therapy, I feel that the list is a general guideline for people living in apartment like spaces. I live in a 2 bedroom home, which is 100m2 and it's considered by this website's standards to be a large space. I know! I used to live in a 3 bedroom house with a separate dining room and living room which is now more condensed in my new apartment. I also have 1 less toilet to clean and much less garden to maintain and I am loving it. I should have done this ages ago. Now to see if my messy self can follow this list.

How To Clean Your House in 20 Minutes a Day for 30 Days

I think that they work great together. The Japanese styling in the picture has a sense of precision and tightness to it that a Van Gogh or Painterly style wouldn't portray. The geometric patterns on the modern styled carpet and the colors really do tie in very well.

I say go with it. Currently doing my own living room and yours will look amazing compared to what i am cooking up.

Does Wave Art Work with Geometric Rug? Good Questions

I love how people have asked questions about surfaces and how it applies to them but no one has actually answered the questions. I read through all the posts to find that some people had already asked the questions I was keen on hearing answers to. I want to know if it works on existing crappy and textured wallpaper. I own, but want to get a better idea of how it will look before committing to it. So, if I go ahead and do it for the moment, I will come back later and post how it went. I loved this idea, my husband wasn't keen while we were renting (because the property manager is a tyrant). I would love to hear more feedback on it.

One thing that I have encountered and are yet to try because my husband didn't think it would work but could be cool, is to go to the fabric store and find an really nice piece of fabric with an updated pattern on it. Use wallpaper paste to apply it in the areas that are hideous and then when time comes you just use water and steam to remove it and give the wall a wash. Also because you'll be cooking in the area a panel of glass or perspex by the stove will protect the fabric from splatter and could brighten the place right up. As for the cupboards, I have always said that I don't usually care to make my rentals look pretty or done up. My kitchen has all sorts of ugly stuff in it but I use it as is because the land lady is tiresome.

Also consider using lighting to highlight the parts you like. Or start collecting coasters or bottletops and stick them onto the wall to create a texture and a point of interest.

Another idea is to find a long thin mirror and apply it (using the 3m strips as mentioned before) to most of that back so that your other colours in the room and the space in front of the mirror gets reflected back at you.

I love that the pattern on the duvet cover is the same as the framed picture. So simple yet positively gorgeous! The wooden headboard makes the room warm and rich! Such a lovely job.

This is lovely. I love how warm the kitchen is. I am currently working on how not to bring new objects into my house but using my personal items as decoration on the walls to save space and show off some of the beautiful things I already own.

It looks so beautiful. Where we are we can't just go in and paint a rental property. They would probably kill us. It's really nice to see what you can do with small spaces.

It's a beautiful room. I pulled mine together after 9 weeks of her being in the world and I am still working on it as we go. Hopefully by the time my baby is 1 she'll have an awesome room. I love that it has an adult spin on the room with the plates and things on the wall but over time where will Wynn's own artworks and input fit in? In my baby's room, I have 2 cork boards up with some screen prints that were done by the kindergarten kids for me. When she gets bigger I will swap them out for her own artworks. I do love the colour combinations!
