I consider myself a master gardener, yet I started out with one tomato plant stuck in the corner of my weed patch, which eventually died. Everyone can learn! For the most part, things want to live, so pick something, stick it in some dirt, put it someplace that gets sun for part of the day, water it when the dirt gets dry and see what happens! I've killed some impatiens (too much sun) and a pepper plant (still too cold out) already this year, it happens to us all. There's always another spring, to try again.
Is a Green Thumb Something You Can Learn?

When I moved into my house I ended up painting almost every single wall. Except I never got around to painting the stairwell down, it was paneled in a dark brown while the rest of the house I did in soothing cool colors with white trim (baseboards, windows, crown molding). So for three years I stewed and seethed over the dark brown tunnel in the middle of my pale sage green living room. Finally, just this past summer, I repainted the living room and did the stairwell. And, of course, it's a million times better. Three years of angst for something that took a few hours to fix.
