i am a pretty darn good weeder...but NOT with the mags - i have so many Dwell, MSL, Real Simple, Sunset, Do It Yourself, Budget Living, ETC...i once started to tear out and file in a binder...but then i just had a binder instead of a magazine, so there was no point! also it is almost impossible to tear out pages, as there is always something on the back of one page i want in another file, or something that just makes me keep the darn mag. i will always just love to browse the pictures - MSL is always beautiful and timeless just to LOOK at. i am at least trying to weed slowly thru some i have fewer of that i love less, and those i leave in my condo complex laundry room. i'm just lucky i have a big ole attic that is also my studio! B - i think it needs a little color and movement and detail/interest, but not too much. i think the red would be overwhelming, and the others would be underwhelming. but can't wait to see! Fill in the Design _____: Pick the Best Wallpaper for this Kitchen |

sounds like an inexpensive & simple ikea frame would be just the thing for your Van Gogh print! if nothing else, for probably $20 you will have it protected and hangable until the day you decide to frame it in a "better" way...if that day ever even comes. i actually have a Van Gogh poster in a simple/inexpensive frame in my guest room...and guess what...i love it just because it is displayed simply and not on my "to do" list or getting damaged somewhere as a piece of clutter. go for it! oh boy - glad that everyone has this issue! i do know one thing, i am a world class "leaner" and things would be easier to clean if the "leaners" were "hangers". going to go gather art & frames right now and make a plan. i know for a fact i am already going to just get rid of a couple of things i never got framed at all! oh well (: Day 6: Choose a Piece of Artwork & Get Going on Framing It Apartment Therapy January Cure |

being an interior designer, this kind of visualizing is familiar to me - i do it constantly and as a result always have too many ideas in my head! however, i did sit in my living room and had some new thoughts as well as some i've already had, but never did anything about. so...maybe that's the difference (: i do know that i want to be able to walk up to and stand in front of all my windows, and for some reason i keep making that difficult - that is going to change. also, no reason the big rug needs to be reserved for dog wrestling - i have always known that i would use all of that seating more if i had a big, sturdy coffee table. and a couple of other things (: but i think the important lesson of the day for me is: visualizing is one thing...now DO IT. i have to modify this one a little - i live in the mountains and will be going grocery shopping tomoro - have cleaning products on my list - it was time to restock anyway. i already buy a lot of "green" products, but did some reading/research to see what else i could learn about good ones. will also get flowers, we have a couple of great flower shops (& even our grocery store) in town. as for the floors, well, my house is just too big to do that all at once. instead, yesterday i spent some time reading & researching, and came up with a cleaning schedule/plan that i am going to try out - it is a 2 week rotation of cleaning tasks, doing one floor each week. i am going to start with no more than 60 minutes a day, and just get as much as i can done, so i don't chuck the whole plan from cleaning exhaustion. i have to assume that as time goes on, things will ease up, if i can keep up with things instead of letting them get so bad that everything is an overwhelming job. so this weekend i did a lot of random but important cleaning tasks (like the front door/window, both toilets - ICK, ALL the laundry including some blankets/etc), and i am feeling really good about the cleaning plan. ahead of the game here...i have a guest room that sadly has been acting as a giant outbox for quite some time now...but i went in there and organized the outgoing, as i know where things are going already - clothing consignment store, Reservation donations, thrift store, etc. so...the outgoing is primed to go out...and ready for more company to go with it (: Day 2: Set Up Your Outbox Apartment Therapy January Cure |

posting after the fact, but...projects...that is a good one, wake me up when it's all over! about 10 years ago, i literally completely designed, did the construction drawings for, supervised construction of, and did much of the construction of our house (i am a designer and my husband is in construction). needless to say, there is still some construction yet undone (: so i have more than i care to admit of that yet to do. AND we are also in the middle of finishing our basement. AND of course i also have all kinds of more specific/small projects like everyone does - hang art, window coverings, closet hardware, pulls on cabinet doors, etc etc ETC. so i made a list of the latter, which are things at this point i think would be easier to accomplish and would actually make a more noticeable difference anyway, while at the same time getting rid of some clutter that is sitting around, like window coverings that are waiting to go up. then at some other time i can get back to grouting the fireplace and staining the basement floor when i am feeling like tackling a big dog. and...i have experienced the same thing as mentioned above - having to deal with every pin if you want to "re-assign" is too much...i've thought about that as i've pinned things - whether i should be thinking harder about the board to begin with. hopefully if this is a common complaint, there will soon be a way to do it easier (if there's not aready) Pins Piling Up? 5 Ways to Keep Your Pinterest Clean & Functional |

i do pinterest for my self and no one else, so i am not concerned with how anything looks to anyone else, so that makes it easy. also i don't put a description or notes on any of my pins, because the whole point is that for me it is a bookmark that i hit to go to the source, so... i guess i feel like i'm not trying to steal, or advertise or anything except "bookmark" favorite things, recipes, diy's, ideas of my own so just the act of pinning the pic/link for my later use is my whole point and process. maybe this is different if you are a blogger/advertising or something like that.
