That is the most cheerful cabinet I think I've ever seen. Great job!

This is so groovy and interesting and colorful. I want that knife holder and the doggy tail hooks among other things. Never thought orange could work for a bedroom, but it sure does here. I have the same IKEA unit in my place (to store cycling attire). It was such a great buy.

Thanks for sharing!

It has absolutely nothing to do with ethics (I eat meat and wear leather) but I think those cowhide rugs are the ugliest things going. They look uncomfortable and as if they smell. Sorry, not trying to offend anyone, it's just my reaction to them.

Wall to wall carpeting can't always be avoided. I know, because I live on the second floor and have it in my apartment. I'm not allowed to change it, so if it's coming back in style - yay!

People think of 1970s green plastic plants when they think of fake. Nowadays, fake plants can include bamboo and metal, so keep an open mind (besides, wouldn't you rather us folks who don't have green thumbs stop our senseless killing of live plants?)

Painted furniture can be both striking and interesting. It only doesn't work when it's not done well.

Art is art - choose what you like and if it's a $20 poster, frame it well and enjoy!

Oh, good grief. Reading through all the comments reminds of when I was in a demonstration contest in my elementary school's 4-H program and had to learn the hard way that life isn't always fair, depending on perspective. My demonstration and poster, although I (and my mom) were certain were the best by a mile, ended up in 2nd place. I stomped my feet and cried, "it isn't fair!" I was sure the judges favored the first 1st place winner, because she was thinner and prettier and, I'll admit it, far more pleasant.

You know what?...those judges probably DID do that. And there was nothing I could do about it then, and there is nothing [anyone who's complaining about this contest on here] can do about it now.

Get over it. You don't own this website and you don't make the rules.

Now, congratulations to all the finalists. All of you deserve to be there. The international winner was a clear winner.

As for the other entries - yes, I had my favorites and so many were inspiring. If you didn't win, at least appreciate that you opened your homes to the rest of us to enjoy.

Cheers!

I love this post! - well written and sweet. I too have had a Myric & Jennifer in my life more than once. They are absolutely invaluable and make the living experience so much better. Being an apartment dweller, good neighbors are especially needed with all the shared walls and floors. People have got to live their lives and neighbors should (will) hopefully understand that.

Pale pink is a weak color in my opinion. But then again, I am not a fan of pink at all. If this had been a post on pale blue or even lavendar, I'd be drooling.

I do like the pink fridge, though, I have to (reluctantly) admit. It truly is unexpected and looks very cool in that otherwise washed out kitchen.

I live in the SFV and have friends who own homes in Topanga. This home is exceptional and captures everything lovely about the area - rustic, timeless, classic. And for the first time, I didn't mind any of the seemingly superfluous photos. I even liked the tomato shot!

Just fantastic - thank you for sharing!

I completely agree, Pi. It always amazes me when folks try to convince others to believe in the supernatural. I do believe in energy and life source, but ghosts going bump in the night are more likely just the imagination going bump in the night.

Would You Live in a Home that was the Scene of a Crime?

Interesting topic.

Something lots of people don't think about are apartments. Lots of deaths happen in apartments, many of them by violent means. I never ask when I rent a new unit, but I don't believe in ghosts in the Hollywood sense, so not knowing is simply a way not to focus on something so awful.

However, with that said, no matter how much I love my current apartment, if my landlord suddenly revealed to me that someone had been brutally murdered in it prior to my moving in, I'd suddenly have second thoughts about renewing the lease.

Since I rent, I can move a little easier than if I owned. Why live in a place that at one time had such tragic, awful juju?

Fantastic improvement for simply organizing the clutter. Then, the aqua walls paired with the white curtains - gorgeous! That last photo with Fran and Emily is just so very sweet. Thank you for sharing.
