I had the opposite experience when I was surprised with a baby boy...And then another one! All of my (memorized) favourite folk and fairy stories have female protagonists, and it was important to me that they see strong smart men too. It has been a real challenge to find traditional stories where the men behave themselves! And I was shocked by the sex and violence in folk tales (we read some ancient Greek and Norse stories, so I had ALOT of explaining to do) I look forward to checking out some of these suggestions, thanks! For the kids: maybe a tiny wheel-shaped herb/veggie garden where you get lots of light? It doesn't have to be very big to teach them about how things grow, if you time the growing right there'll always be something to do out there. Try Lasagne Gardening by Patricia Lanza for low/ no maintenance. Also, the herbs/ veggies can be replaced with flowers when you go. Hostas, or a grass/ white clover mix might do better than just grass as a ground cover, and you can still mow it. Ideas for Rental's Large Back Yard? Good Questions |

I think I could live with the open toilet if the bathroom area had an exhaust fan? The library is awesome, lots of light. Before & After: Erik's Empty Attic to Marvelous Master Bedroom Suite |

Some ARE illegal, wish I'd seen this when my son outgrew his 10+ years ago...My mom turned it into a rabbit hutch. It is illegal to sell drop-sided cribs, but this doesn't look like that. Before & After: Obsolete Crib Makes a Fantastically Functional Set of Shelves |

Great wig, it's got "Job Interview" written all over it! Lol. I found an opened plastic bag of coffee filters. I have never had a percolater, I've always had a french press (best coffee ever) sooo...yeah, I don't have an explanation. And they're pretty old, so I suspect they came with the house. Makes me wonder what else I missed during the movincleanin. Liveblogging Day 13: Small Victories in the Bedroom Liveblogging the January Cure |

Am I the only one still working on the weekend's deep-clean? I do have an enormous pregnant belly and a largish kitchen, I guess. And I did the landing strip yesterday. My superproject, the new baby's future bedroom , will have to wait. Good thing I've stored up all this pregnancy/nesting energy... Day 10: Work on Your Goal Project Apartment Therapy January Cure |

@sarajanie, I'm always changing what goes in which container, so I cut out the instructions/expo date/sometimes a particularly pretty label and cover them in a layer of clear packing tape. I can then keep the info on (more tape...) the new big jar, move the label if I have to, and it doesn't cost anything. Day 10: Work on Your Goal Project Apartment Therapy January Cure |

@monet 419, I also had this problem! I put hooks on the back of the door, like a bathrroom. All other coats live in the bedroom closets, and the ones we (family of four) are currently wearing go onto the hooks. We also don't have an exhaust fan/range hood in our kitchen, but since it's just our daily coats, which get washed roughly weekly or biweekly, the cooking smells don't really add up. someone gave me a tiny shoe rack that fits on our drip tray, and I put a basket on the top shelf for the misc. crap that needs to be sorted as we come in. Seems to be working? Day 9: Create a Landing Strip Apartment Therapy January Cure |

@CVP, you might like MindMapping. I tried it few years ago when I had less space, roommates, decisions to make about my and my son's education, potential relationships, job oppurtunities...It was a jam-packed time, and mind mapping helped to (quickly and reasonably) follow each potential choice down its rabbit-hole, (pros, cons, everything) and see how things would likely progress. It took a few weeks, and after a lot of mapping and a lot of related research, I selected a course, schools, and a new place. Try thinkbuzan.com.
